If you're waiting for society in general to come together and fight, don't hold your breath.
Remember that ~1% of the French population were in the Resistance, and that was a situation where a clear enemy suddenly invaded the country.

Comparing it to the french resistance, something you stood a REALLY good chance of being murdered should you join it, is hardly comparable. One might expect if your not very likely to be murdered you stand a much better chance of siding with change.. and if you think YOU should be killing or using violence right now then you are already the problem.
