So the thing is, most of the fake outrage being thrown at #TheBadSpace is a projection of the person doing it.

Almost all of the people who have a problem with the project are white, and they feel like they are being treated unfairly, so they feel their anger is justified. They feel like I am treating them how they inherently feel about Black and Brown people and view this as an injustice.

But the reality is that I am not a bigot and a very fair-minded person. I'm not going to take your shit if you come to me in bad faith, but we can talk because, well, I'm a rational person.

A lot of white people cannot fathom this kind of cooperation because their inherent worldview is based on whiteness, which informs distorted perspectives that cannot comprehend a fair world because they need their entitlement to exist.

The angst I've been seeing all week isn't really about the project. But rather the idea that white people may be treated how the treat everyone else.

That's where all this anger is coming from.

There's this seething rage under many criticisms of #TheBadSpace that are completely unwarranted in the project context. It's just a directory of websites to help people make better blocklists. It's actually pretty simple.

But this idea has been attached to it that it will result in white people on the fedi being treated like Black and Brown folks. And, of course, in the white imagination, they are terrified of reprisal because they know what they have done to us.

In its own way, it's a representation of that primal fear white people have attached themselves to. That's why it's been attacked all week. That's why it's till being DDoS'd. They are terrified of retribution.

Ha, but I literally built it to keep Black and Brown folks safe. It's about our communities, not punishing them.

But white people can only think one way. And, as they do, it's actually their actions that are bringing about the scenario they fear the most.

Simply because they cannot leave us alone.
