I really hope we never reach the point where someone implements a way to silence OTHER people from having an opinion about your post... You have every right to decide what you see, you have no right to decide what other people can see. If i want to see what people have to say about your comment, I should be able to, and you should be powerless to stop me.
One thing that I don't like about Mastodon is that I can't edit the replies to my post. So, if someone replies to something I said with a non sequi...
This is moderation feature from old forums/blogs/news sites, it was used to clean unrelated stuff i guess when discussion was intended to strictly follow the topic.

@lonelyowl yea and back int he day where there wa a single view of a thread that made sense... but it makes no sense in this new decentralized world. No one person gets to control what can be seen.. you can control who can see what you post, and nothing else. As it should be.
@freemo @lonelyowl I think it's kind of prissy to actually do this but if people want to see replies they can still see them on other servers. it doesn't sound like it would stop people on other servers from replying.
