Words can not express how fricking cool my new keyboard is. And now just cause i soldered it from scratch, but it just has so many extras. My favorite is the three oled (one arrives tomorrow) which shows thi gs like my WPM.

@freemo this goes hard. Also those keys look like they are sourced from some 80s keyboard, like an apple ii

@Mondobizarrro Yea I picked the keycaps myself. I really liked the retro look.

I also picked navy box kahle switches (it along with the jade are the loudest switches on the market, the navy being significantly heavier.)

@freemo i use a model m from 1987, but i also have a corsair k68 rgb as a backup. Ive had no problems using it for gaming but i mainly got it cause i like how it feels to type on it. You cant beat the classics. If i were to get a new keyboard id probably get a full size gmmk with linear switches

@Mondobizarrro Yes I have a model T as well and used it for quite a while. One of the keys however has gotten a little funky and I havent had a chance to fix it.

I do love the buckling spring old stuff.

@freemo i wanna get "the new model m" by unicomp if mine ever fails since it seems to eliminate a lot of problems the old mold had after 40 years of wear and tear

@Mondobizarrro I just wish they made hot swappable modern switches that were buckling spring types with the nice loud click of a model m... oh well the switches I have are still pretty nice with a fairly unique and distinctive sound and feel.

@freemo yeah they feel nice but if i had proper mechanical switches i think i want something fast and on the quieter side since i live in an apartment

@Mondobizarrro you always have tactiles for that, all the feel none of the sound.

I myself love the sound, the louder the better. In fact I added a speaker built into this keyboard and controlled from the firmware directly. I intend to use it to make additional clicky sounds when I type.

@freemo@qoto.org I built both the Romeo and Discipline V2 kits, really nice keyboards and a decent amount of soldering involved. Take the Romeo to work with me.

@amoonrabbit Are those older nullbit keyboards I dont know about?

There was a decent amount of soldering here too. From start to finish it took me a full day with no problems or issues other than one slight one. I am fairly expiernced at soldering though

@freemo this shit looks retarded and gay and you should kill yourself about it

@creamqueen awesome, triggering you just makes this all the more awesome... thanks for that!

@creamqueen LOL is making up random shit with no connection to reality supposed to upset me? Cause all it does is show your a nut job.

@wholemilk If you are comfortable soldering its worth it... Each of the three components took me about half a day, and thats with hot swap. Would have taken less time with direct solder.

@freemo It is like cooking for yourself: it gets better because you did it!

Does it work well? Tell us how your tests go!

@admitsWrongIfProven Works better than any other keyboard... largely because its made to be super customizable. It also has a ton of interconnects, so all the raspberry pis can talk to eachother. The firmware has a ton of features. It even can fake clicky sounds when you type, lol.

@freemo But.. does it feel good? Is the clicky doing the "what i mean"?
Does it work like it is meant to?

@admitsWrongIfProven Well I got to pick the keys and I went through a lot of samples. So it should be no surprise its perfect for what I want. That doesnt mean I'd recommend it or you. My top priority was being as loud as possible and my second was the highest weight. So I wound up with objectively that (after a lot of research). IIts the Box Navy by Kahle if you want a loud one with a lighter touch then you want the box jade

@freemo You're in for a treat!
