News should never be monitized and no one should trust or read news that is for-profit. For profit news has a tendency to publish stories designed to get readers as the priority rather than prioritizing objective facts.
What exactly do you mean by "for-profit" and "monetization"?
Funding news through ads is probably indeed a bad idea, but donations or subscription looks like a reasonable way to monetize
for-profit = any organization which has not registered as a non-profit.
monetization = Owners seek to make money off the news organization.
To put it another way, a company where there are no owners making a profit off its success. The only way people make money is through their salary, not as a share of profits.
