why do people want background checks for guns but they never ask for sociopathy checks for politicians :comfywoozy:

@icedquinn No one is asking for background checks for guns, we already have that so its not a ask... what they want is a violation of medical history to occur in **addition** to ones criminal background check.. they just wont say what they actually want because they know how weak an ask like that sounds when it comes to privacy rights.

@freemo @icedquinn Ooh. Good context.

Unfortunately that type of thing seems to have bipartisan support so I’m sure we’ll get that in five years or so.

@realcaseyrollins

It is certainly possible. It is really the only reason im glad we have some extremists on the right in SCOTUS like clarence... he may be a complete dipshit, but he may at least help invalidate any anti-2A attempts for the next few years till people come to their senses.

@icedquinn

@freemo we know what those people want is "no guns, however i can con you in to believing it"

however

there are people who do support at face value background checks and such for firearms.

my question is why then why don't we check if a politician has similar issues that make them prone to using the office for gross destruction :neocat_floof_mug:

@icedquinn Because they know what they want is a violation of rights and fairness. They dont mind it on guns because they dont mind "cheating" when its something they are against... but when its not something they are against, like their own politicians, then it is an unthinkable infringement.

@TURBORETARD9000 @freemo medical information is just supposed to be considered generally private.

although thats rather hilarious because the insurance codes are so detailed as to eliminate whatever privacy anyone thought existed :comfystoner:
@TURBORETARD9000 @freemo there's actually a specific coding number for "didn't take covid vaccine" because for some reason there needed to be a specific coding number for that, instead of it just being a section called like "patient declined recommendation" or something.
@icedquinn @freemo Well I imagine there's a specific code for several types of people who take risks with their health, like skydivers and people over 300lbs
@TURBORETARD9000 @freemo generally, no. 💉 refusal doesn't have a code for each specific one.
@TURBORETARD9000 @freemo tl;dr medical coding is a surveillance apparatus anyway, the codes are weirdly specific at times.
@icedquinn @freemo > medical coding is a surveillance practice
...
No.
Just, no.
It's how doctors communicate, how the insurance fuckers use it is their fault, not doctors
@TURBORETARD9000 @freemo the coding is specifically dictated by and for the insurance complex :blobcatwaitwhat:

doctors don't use it, they read the records.
@icedquinn @freemo yeah, but it's a little different when you're doing or getting something that has significant risk of harm to many others
@TURBORETARD9000 @freemo kind of like kitchens that could serve bad food, politicians who could start wars, or the myriad of companies who kill on a daily basis...

i didn't have any background checks in food cert to see if i was a known poisoner or typhoid risk.
