@thor confidence without the evidence to back it (or the skills) is just lying convincingly. and sure lying convincingly can get you jobs :)
@freemo I remember this one time I walked straight out of a store carrying a big item that I forgot to pay for. Realising my mistake, I returned to pay for it.
The cashier: Haha, you seemed so confident I didn't even think about it!
@freemo it's funny how confidence can get you a job. There are jobs I got based on very little evidence because I spoke with confidence about my profession. And I didn't think about it until later. "Wait, they didn't ask for any evidence..."
