It's not that everyone I know who's had Covid has had some subsequent dreadful health issue, it's that everyone I know with some dreadful health issue seems to have gotten it as a result of having Covid.

I have had COVID 7 times so far (as a COVID research scientist I was tested often).
All of my dreadful health issues existed long before COVID. I did not get any long-term consequences that I can tell.
