I am digging some of the conversation this United Federation of Instances is creating. Lots of great ideas so far, every last one.
@tatzelbrumm create a topic-branch (once just for you), push it there, go to the web-ui create a merge request off of it... select the option to delete topic branch once merged.
Maybe we want to remove the whole "no-commercial" rule entierly.. youve convinced me of that personally.. Can you throw up an issue or merge request and ill be happy to back you up as we are in agreement.

I take back what I said and agree with @battaglia01 that an exception for content creators should be allowed in the UFoI's constitution. QOTO will remain non-commercial however.
Hey do you want to try to create a merge request with your proposed change (either of you can)... also add yourself to the contributors if you arent already there.

I took a swing at it -
Partly b/c it seemed like it would create a minimum of two 'verses, one 'SFW', one 'NSFW'.
Partly b/c I thought of a gazillion other topics that ought be behind a CW.
Partly because I work with a global team and am really aware of my 'network privilege'.
Proposed 'TL;DR'
Boobs, Bombs, or Beans - __All__ multimedia goes behind a CW, and every user actively and affirmatively chooses to view it.
I offered my perspective there, but its just an opinion. I want to see how the conversation progresses before I solidify my view either way. I think it was a great contribution.
I also am looking forward to hear @toplesstopics 's take on it before deviding what opinion to support.

Yes i see no issue with using this space for faster coms to settle your opinions before chiming in on gitlab.
@battaglia01 content creators can not use this platform to advertise anymore than others... with that said its ok if they share their content so long as they dont try to sell it here (such as including purchase links).. We try to conside rit on a case by case basis but generally if your posting with the intent to make money, content creator or not, its a no go. but you can talk about things you make money off of indirectly.
Unlisted is one of the privacy options on a post (see the little globe, hit that when writing a post). It means that only people who go to the post and followers will see it. It wont show up in the local or federated timelines.

@tonic Thats amazing... we havtually have some really good people here. In a weird way tthe Drama really means the people coming in are ones who have a good head on their shoulders IMO... they care about basic rights, but they arent going to harass people over it.. a ncie balance.

Maybe, that would be too far, as it might be very hard to moderate. Maybe it's the right thing to do.

My personal stance is to keep the rules limited as is reasonable. Keep in mind instances can make up their own additional rules for their instance still, so there is a lot of freedom for them to customize the rules beyond those enforced by the UFI.
That said I think its good you added an issue, it is worth discussing.
