What encryption algorithm do you prefer for asymmetric keys, specifically signing?
#cryptography #pgp #GPG #GnuPG
@torq Thats the internet for ya I guess
@shuro Suggesting a specific google search is not the part of what they said that is concerning :)
@torq Sure, but my comment went out of its away to make it clear thats not what i was doing (precisely to ensure there wast this sort of misunderstanding). So no excuse here.
@decolonialatlas Where exactly did you get the info about Arkansas. I tried to do some fact checking and according tot he state website the minimum age is 14, not 9.
Ahh the fediverse, where people get offended because you politely ask for more information... do these people realize what a fool they make of themselves?
I am not arguing for or against any tax model here. Just saying you cant rely on the fact that a society that doesnt heavily tax mega corps are going to lack infrastructure.
Also keep in mind there are entirely different models out there that can be a big incentive too. Some countries for example have no tax at **any** income level and instead rely on sales tax. These countries have seen absolutely massive economic booms in recent years and a good deal of migration.
The flaw in your logic is assuming you can only fund infrastructure by taxing the mega rich... truth is you can have flat tax that significantly reduses the tax on mega corperations and still bring in the same amount of tax by taxing the middle class.
So yea, you can have quite minimal taxes on megacorperations and still have the same tax as a country that highly taxes them.
@freemo See...all of these politicians out here....and NONE OF THEM have tried to corner the mac-and-cheese vote!
@jaysonmassey To be fair I have a feeling that vote will more heavily influence the philly crowd than most other places :)
@jens Oh, what a nice looking high horse you rode in on there..
1) I didnt "demand" anything, but your imagined offense is an interesting tactic... I asked a question for clarification, politely.
2) What would make you think I or anyone would know to google "refugee convention", once you know about the convention, sure, but if someone is asking hte question presumably they dont so would have no idea to search for a "convention" at all. (the op certainly made no mention of a convention).
3) I am, in fact, aware of the "convention" thing is as far as I know (and I spent a few hours after seeing this post googling on it) there is no explicit provision that says you must allow refugees to freely cross your borders without checking in at a border crossing point. But again, this is why i am asking. If it is clearly defined in that convention, or any other, then I would love to hear where it is stated so I can read about it.
4) If that is what is being referred to it is important to note that only countries that adhere to the ruling count. For example India is not a party to that convention and therefore it does not apply to them. That said most countries do adhere to it.
@jaysonmassey Sounds like the guy has a good plan, i need to look into him in more detail...
@ClancyParliament I'm willing to bet you'd get similar results any time you conducted this poll in the last 1000 years :)
@pieist Yea sadly we are one of very few with federation we leave up to our users.
The bullying of instances that block seems to be a growing problem.
I hope ?I can get UFoI soon and bring some sanity to all this.
the issue with the latter list isnt just htat its mostly one-user instances, but also that it doesnt report instances that block them that are outside of their ideological bubble. In fact they are often marked as being blocked rather than doing the blocking (particularly when the block is mutual).
So the list basically is skewed to ignore all the bhlocks that are incoming for the "bubble" of people from instances that maintain those lists.. They will outright reject updates to the numbers when the block goes the other way.
You have two ways to look at it.. you have instances that heavily block, and they tend to block instances that dont block what they block. A lot of these instances dont publish their block lists because it winds up being massive.
You join them youll pretty much be stuck in a bubble of radicalized people, and you will have a very limited view of the fediverse.
On the other hand you can join instances that dont block and while they may have more instances blocking them, in the end they have a much larger footprint in the fediverse.
In fact in the past when we measured the conceitedness of QOTO (how many servers we federate with) we had one of the biggest footprints in the fediverse, despite a decent number of small instances blocking us. You can also measure this by insularity, and as I recall we had a pretty high ranking in that case too (low insularity).
@pieist There are a few sources one can use, unfortunately they are highly incomplete and show some biased information, and in some cases unethical. So we generally dont share the lists that are floating around.
In one case the list is made by kiwifarms so is considering unethical by association.
In the other case it is compiled by some radicals on the opposite end of the spectrum, so highly biases reporting on only certain instances. Moreover it doesnt weight for user count and is highly polluted with single-user instances.
@bjarne I unboosted it in case he was making some sort of point I didnt follow and didnt want to promote unknowingly.
@bjarne I may have misunderstood the post. I dont think its far fetched to say russia is against us and that this is a proxy war between the USA and russia... thats actually been fairly accepted.
The part abotu JP morgan i really dont understand what he was on about though.
