@sandorspruit It might be of limited help yea.. The problem is pipelines everywhere are going to break, docker will become damn near unusuable. There is no magical cure for that.

Thanks, I am aware of most of this and how to host my own docker registry... but this issue goes much deeper than that.

@PawelK As lkong as I can replace docker swarm and docker with something equivelant I will.. I built a lot on top of dockerswarm that will be hard to move from.

@arichtman Yea agreed. Right now im already looking to jump ship from docker (should there be a good alternative) and most of the reason is the fall back to hub...

I suspect docker removing the free tier is going to absolutely devistate them. All the open-source software, which is what dominated docker, is now scrambling to find alternatives.

Also since docker treates docker hub as first class for fetching images I suspect people will move off docker entierly.

It is going to be pretty crazy for the open source community too having all the images they depend on just disapear. Dev chains everywhere are going to break...

Usually as far as I can tell societies tend to go into phases where everyone is basically bat-shit crazy.. They either bounce back and go back to sanity when they see how bad that is, or they collapse.

The usa is in the bat-shit crazy phase, so it will resolve one of two ways pretty quick and we will see a radical change. Lets just hope its not the direction of collapse.

The collapse of any nation will disrupt the world, and certainly one as big as the USA... Short term I dont think anyone will be happy and it willhurt many... long term, maybe it will be for the better, its hard to say. In my eyes America is in one of the worst states of all countries but other countries are just a hair behind us when it comes to self-destructive qualities... so it would not suprise me that if the USA collapsed it would cause a lot of other countries to collapse too.

My fear is the collapse of western societies might lead to a super power gaining control and makiing things much worse.

It has been only a day since I discovered jira from the command line, but my god it has probably already doubled my productivity.

@Pat Only took 4 years for the soviet union to collapse... so maybe. I would not be the least bit surprised if it did.

@stux there is a reason 3d games are so common though

@stux Awesome man... creating your own software is a whole new ball game... worth every second, a hell of a lot of work, plenty of mistakes to learn from... but so damn rewarding... No doubt youll have something you will be excited about if you follow it through. The bigger your project gets (assuming you keep it clean and keep rewriting shit till its perfect as you go) the more exciting it is to work with, at least for me.

@stux Havent really went too deep into unreal, im too busy crunching numbers when I code to have the pleasure of doing anything for entertainment sadly... that said doing an MMO has always been one of the things i kept on my bucket list (and have some lowkey toys i did that were mostly text based but rather cool in their own way)
