Considering i am a person of native american decent who comes from a si gke parent in poverty i am exactly the target audience. In fact i benefit far more than most minorities.
And while it clearly isnt working, more importantly it is unjust and immoral approach that passes on the wrong sort of values.
@AGTMADCAT @just_a_frog @jerry
No not affrimitive action because it the criteria to get help isnt race but poverty. The fact that minorities tend to be in poverty more often will result in something similar that favors minorities, but it would give equal treatment to a poor person regardless of race.
Solving racism isnt simple, nor is there going to be one simple solution to it (which is why AA isnt a solution either, it tries to be)... but some examples?
Better access to early education (free tutors, better funding of inner city public schools, free access to extra curricular schooling).
Better support for those who are in poverty in terms of healthcare, food and shelter.
Better access to mental health care (this is just all around food for families and people).
Better training opportunity for their parents (like free education and trade school) so fewer minority families are in poverty to begin with and thus have better opportunities.
Just to name a few....
I think we agree for sure that the **intent** was to counter racism, and in that sense it is noble. But in practice it basically says "Lets apply racist techniques in a way that benefits minorities and hurts others and then we are even"... using racist tactics to solve racism will never work.
@jerry Getting rid of affirmitive action was a good thing. If we want any policy it should be one where admissions are equal and fair to everyone based on merits and not race.
That isnt to say there isnt a racism issue, there is... affirmitive action was just always the wrong way to address it and needed to die for a long time now.
@oliphant Nah, just dont punch people, much simpler and just.
@IAmErik .380 and 0.40 both deserve to be on the list honestly. Sadly i was limited to 4, and these are the 4 that are my top picks so I went with it.
As for the importance of caliber... in most situations I'd tend to agree. Even a 0.22 is pretty deadly at close range, at least enough to incapacitate... But there is important differences like penetration potential which can be fairly critical when you consider other factors (like collateral damage).
Disagreement is always welcome, your opinion is noted and appreciated. Thanks for sharing.
You too have a wonderful day.
> Said on the largest free information sharing platform in human history.
Information is not education, particularly when said information is unreliable and requires research, which requires education to do so effectively (flat earthers are a prime example of information without education).
> What we didn't waste money on is handing out a piece of parchment signed by someone who has no real world experience creating anything of human value.
I could care less about diplomas and degrees. I'd be more than happy to reform the way we look at school and have people take courses piecemeal and int he end have employers evaluate their skills, not a piece of paper.
@Wolven I really need to look into this affirmative action ruling to get an opinion on it... Obviously it **sounds** like a good thing, as affirmative action was never a good way to solve the very real racism problem we have. But my fear is that better solution arent going to replace it so it still leaves a gapping problem.
Striking down the loan forgiveness stuff makes sense, we should have always been giving free education to future generations, but forcing loan company's to pay other peoples bills for an otherwise legitimate agreement, no thats just wrong.
@mk You came in on my thread wasting my time... so save us both the effort and be a moron somewhere else, thanks.
@mk LOL I dont need to watch a 3 hour podcast video to find out what I already know, that your a moron.
Or maybe the evidence is week to support most of the claims, I dont know cause I didnt watch some dumbass podcast and you provided no evidence, so I can only speculate... all I know is from the evidence I do have the way you described it already has enough clues to know it isnt true... beyond that its a waste of my time to invest any more time into it when its clearly untrue already on the surface.
Ok so yea that, at least how you explained it, would rule out that the isralis did it at all.
> 01:26:59 two jewish men driving a urban-moving-truck filled with explosives
Based on the pattern of the explosion it would make absolutely no sense that the towers came down by a truck at ground level
@ambihelical More activity I'd imagine. spent 4 or 5 months of that time SCUBA diving 3 times a day.
@mk If thats the case I know nothing about that. I did work for FEMA during the twin tower investigation though, but that isnt a topic that was touched.
If the point is just to tell me israel sucks and I shouldnt like them... dont worry you dont need to convince me of that. Jews are great people and have nothing against them, love them in fact. But Israel as a government (and to a lesser extent their culture) is one i have a pretty bitter taste in my mouth after the last 1.5 years I spent there.
@mk You are thinking of Saudi Arabia, no relationship to Israel/Palestine.
