@tripu Good question.

If i had to speculate I think it has a lot to do with some unspoken subconscious stuff... my thinking goes like this.

While rape and pedophilia is deplorable, it is still sexual in nature. This has the potential to arouse and imagery associated with arousal is likely far more likely to be appealing to a person and perhaps tempt them to do the bad deed than simply watching someone kill, which in and of itself isnt something that, by watching it, is likely to have any element of pleasure and thus likely wont do as good a job at enticing someone to carry it out.

@TruthSandwich

Oh no, they are hugely different. About the only thing they have in common is that anyone who points out facts that make their side look then they are equivalent to the other side.. well that and they are both evil. Minor shit really.

@georgetakei Wow, we got to book burning level already..... that escalated quicker than I expected. I figured I still had a year or two till we got to the book burning stage of fascism.

@falken

Did you file a bug on our issues if there isnt one for any issue you are having? I am using that as my reference as im working on this stuff.

> As I mentioned before, it’s not only mental illness, It might be an emotional distress, underlying suffering or a coping mechanism, etc.

Sure yea I can go with that.. im just trying to understand.

Are you suggesting that all people who get tattoos have some underlying emotional distress or suffering, and therefore is self harm? Or are you saying that they dont, and it is only self harm if it harms the self and is out of mental illness or distress. Harming ones self not out of mental illness or distress is not self-harm? or it is?

> The result is a net negative for the individual and society.

Did you really mean "and" here, or did you maybe mean "or"?

A tattoo causes a net negative for the individual but it iis **very** small. There is some risk of infection or complications, as well as damage to the skin. So the net harm for the individual while small is non-zero.

So if the criteria here is an "or", then tattoo would qualify as self-harm no? Or perhaps you really did mean and, in which case we would agree by those criteria it is not self harm as only one of the two conditions is met.

That said if you did mean and, that would mean self harm that doesnt effect society, even out of mental illness by these criteria is perfectly ok. This would suggest that if someone is disliked by more people than they are liked they can commit suicide and that is perfectly ok because it harms the self but not society.

@BigMcLargeHuge

QED that is exactly the response I expected... Trump is a moron, and couldnt lie his way out of a wet paper bag... He will **always** look worse than anyone. Because we respond far more strongly to obvious harmful loud obnoxious stuff than we do the subtle feigned read between the lines stuff, even whent he latter is much worse than the former the overwhelming majority of people will never recognize that.. hell most will probably be fooled by Biden, even with his lies being fairly transparent, especially next to someone like Trump with verbal diarrhea.

@unabomber

@BigMcLargeHuge

Hahaha, facts.. I think he might be one of the few people on Trumps intellectual level :)

@TruthSandwich

@BigMcLargeHuge

If it came to those two racist nubs then I'd expect Biden to win... not because he is the better choice, in fact he is at least as bad as Trump, maybe worse, hard to say for me but yea im leaning towards biden being the worse (marginally) right now (it only flipped a week or two ago). But while Biden is the bigger racist he is also the better liar, so most people I think would be easily conned by Biden exploiting minorities to look like an ally, so id expect they would not see his racism despite being far worse than Trumps.

@unabomber

@jeffowski

Wow thats weird... what were they scared a striker would do? like was was the thinking there?

@bii Thanks for sharing your perspective. I probably wont get to read it till tomorrow.

@jeffowski Oh she actually started up production and paid people to come in. You are right I didnt know that, I thought they didnt start production quite that quickly. I'll have to verify that production was live and that info is accurate, but if it is then I agree, she did, in fact, cross the line. While I dont support the strike personally I would agree with you that if you do support the strike then he is now a SCAB and is worth that criticism then. I rescind my original comment on the condition that the new information you provided is accurate then.

@malakai Then we would be a perfect fit for you. We would love to not have you! :)

@falken

I've been working on it (and even offering to pay a developer to do it in the future to make it faster).

Keep in mind though our version has no relationship to mastodon, we are a fork and indepependent.

@TruthSandwich

What sentance or phrase did you struggle understanding. Id be more than happy to explain in a way that you will better understand.

> She was advised from her own writers on her show that this was crossing the picket line.

She certainly was advised that. And ultimately didnt do it. Therefore while starting the show would have been crossing the picket line, as advised, she did not follow through and never crossed it (despite her almost having done so).

> She only changed course because of the very public backlash.

Who cares, she didnt actually cross it... in fact she went one step further and didnt only not cross, but admited she was wrong... I am proud she had the courage to admit she is wrong, that takes a lot of character (regardless of the motivation).

@jeffowski

What a disgrace, we wont even let people admit their wrong and apologize anymore :( Dont get me wrong, nothing wrong with criticizing her decision... but to still lay it on thick after they decided to not even go through it and actively admitting they were wrong... yea thats not the right way to respond.

@thor ahh so tinder not OKC.. i know i said i havent used dating apps in a while but i kinda lied.. i actually met my GF a year ago off tinder.... That said the reason i forgot is it wasnt entierly intentional. I just idly had it on my phone and wasnt really serious about it. But when I landed int he country she was inmy phone exploded with a ton of likes (probably due to the unique nature of the country).. Anyway it got my attention and i met her off tinder.
