@georgetakei Him loosing everything would make me happy.
funny, me and my coworkers watching your comments were just thinking the same thing about you... small world.
Because someone needs to organize our collective resources to achieve greater works.. even if the people do this through elected and selected charities, they have no choosen a "master" over that aspect.

Libertarians vote for anythi g that reduces govt authority or spending... they dont vote with the gop so much as for whatever side regulates the least. Since democrats solve everything with (bad) legislation its no surprise they always vote against.
> You can't have "exercised by [the people] directly or indirectly through a system of representation" without in principle violate "freedom of any given individual", and to me that is "forcing the will"...
You can, and we do. The electorial college is an example of that, it ensures that most disseperate cultures and their regions have some agreement on votes... it isnt purely majority based (you need to get close to a majority but can win even without one)... but also is fairly balanced so fringe ideas cant win either.
It is a prime example of democracy that is not a simple majority.
Ok well thats one way to show you have little information about what you are talking about.
Ron Paul hasnt been on a presidential ticket since the 80s.... If we want most popular/famous I'd look to the presidential candidates they put forwrd as that represents the accepted norm of the whole of the party (Ron as a senator only represents the views of a small district).
So Jo Jorgenson or Gary Johnson would be the two most recent and most modern representatives of the party.
Neither look very similar to the GOP in their views.
As to answer your question and how Jo and Libertarians as a whole tend to differ fromt he GOP well here are some examples of that (some are Jo's policies and the parties:
* Jo was for more open borders, wanting to remove immigration quotas reregulate the borders to allow immigrants easier access to come here.
* Jo and most libertarians are adamatly against Trump's border wall
* Jo opposes the war on drug
Just a few examples off the cuff.
@freemo I always dream that a modified version of recumbent bikes can replace many cars and electric cars.
Here
https://ace-shop.com/en/why-recumbents/speed/
at 250w of human power, the speed of an aerodynamic recumbent is 69km/h vs 29km/h of a normal bike and 35km/h of a sport racing bike.
Imagine one of these bikes with a trunk, some small electric unit, etc...
I ronically slaves remaining slaves for their own good was **not** just an invention of slave owners (though perhaps that happened too)... It was a legitimate concern for some slaves. Being free was often a death sentance.
Obviously in the long term being free has been great for them and it is obviously the right thing to do. But in the short term it meant certain death for many with no food, work, job, and just the fact that without a master people will be a lot quicker to kill you. If you had a kind and generous master (of course not many did) I can see why objectively you might want to remain a slave givin the conditions in the world at the time for a free black man.

Being a dad would probably be great.. in all reality only reason im not a dad is because I cant ethically bring a child into a world that is already so overcrowded and in shambles, especially when there are so many kids up for adoption. Should I have a kid it will almost certainly be adopted
Yes the big L is the name of the party, and the little l is the name of the principle that party espouses...
Libertarians are classically liberal... modern liberals do not remotely resemble the classical use of the term liberal, they just hijacked it as a way to manipulate people.. same reason they are now starting to lean more into terms like "Progressive" to make it sound like only they hold the monopoly on progress... its kinda a joke. Dont fall for it.
> Democracy is by definition forcing the will of the majority onto the rest of the population. A.k.a. Authoritarianism.
Except its literally not. The primary definition of democracy doesnt even use the word majority:
"a government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised by them directly or indirectly through a system of representation usually involving periodically held free elections"
In fact while there are other secondary definitions that include majority, those definitions apply only when used more generally (as in not specific to the context of national governments)
In fact we only need to look at example to know what you said is false, The USA, the UK, and effectively every nation in the world, doesnt have a simple majority to win. In fact all these nations are designed to have some mechanism to ensure a simple majority, a tyranny of the majority, isnt possible.
Nah thats not even remotely in line with the truth. Their views dont line up with any of the GOP and there is little relationship.
They also follow the **original** meaning of libertarian (that is minimal government control).. you can like or dislike or put them anywhere on the spectrum you want... But saying they are similar tot he GOP, or not true libertarians is just absurd
Any particular reason? Do you think a non pronouncable acronym works better?
Oh wow the open-source license I wrote is still out there!
