On that we agree, we do not want a global government...
People keep trying to fix problems by making every more expansive laws and tgiving the power to enforce it to ever more expansive governing bodies... What people dont realize is that will just keep making matters worse. The real solutions are the hard ones, and they are social, and sadly trying to force social change at gun point is aboutt he most anti-social thing you can do :)
I wouldnt quite go that dramatic. I mean.. countries could, int heory, accept majority rule. I would be scared of genocide, but I dont think its "required" for such a thing to exist.. the bigger concern is that it enables it at all.
For me I generally prefer local governments having power over larger governments.. at least within a framework. So any sort of global government heads in the opposite direction of what I'd like.
As far as I know the UN already has no legal authority over the USA, so this wouldnt make sense... we currently cant and dont veto UN rulings since they have no legal bearing on us unless we want it to (and pass our own separate law to enforce it).
As far as I know no country has any internal system that obligates it to the ruling of international court.
That said I would be very much against giving the UN, or any international court, authority locally. Each country can and should choose to adopt their rullings on a case by case basis.
@freepeoplesfreepress This stuff is a tough one. I would tend to agree with your decision. That said as a general rule I never make oaths or promises. I word myself carefully to explain my intent but never commit to an unwavering promise.
Interesting fact of the day: The two largest fish known to us are in fact quite different in their maximum observed size.
The whale shark is generally considered the largest and their maximum size in tones is a little over 20 tons.
By comparison the basking shark is the second biggest but its max size only comes in at a little over 5 tones.
That would mean, by weight, the largest fish in the world is at its maximum 4x bigger thant he second biggest.
Interestingly, however, there isnt nearly as much disparity in their maximum length. The Whale Shark maxes out around 18 meters while the Basking Shark is around 14 meters.
You made me laugh, and I am not happy about it :)
@LouisIngenthron similar order of magnitude yea.
Dude I got so much sleep debt accrued that the sleep bank is about to foreclose and cancel all my credit!
Interesting fact of the day: Both dogs and wolves start to display object permanence at about the same time in their development (5b object permanence at ~11 weeks).
By comparison humans start to show stage 5b object permanence around 12 to 18 month.
@freepeoplesfreepress What if you made a promise/oath that you realize later you judged incorrectly..
For example you make an oath of secrecy and then the person tells you that they are a serial killer, before that they were a good friend you would have trusted.... would you break your oath to prevent them from murdering more people?
I miss having deep nuanced quality conversations in real life... Everyone has become to boring with idealistically pure thoughts and everything revolves around them justifying those ideals... I miss when people would think for themselves and offer real insight rather than just a catalog of their biases....
Luckily I do still have friends like this, but they are just such a rare breed. Even the intellectuals are often mind numbingly boring.
@Sheril What really amazes me is how species can exist and have no problem finding eachother to mate.. yet the whole human race can go 100 yyears and not document even one of them.... Thats the cool part, that the earth can be so big and yet they still find eachother.
I'd possibly be willing to help. Had some questions for you. Let me know if you want to have a discussion, otherwise best of luck to you.
@thor haha :)
@thor Moreover you may not WANT to move it... Generally if you have the memory to spare you want to pre-allocate more memory than a program needs to it isnt constantly allocating in small chunks.. Therefore a block of free memory within the memory allocated to a program may be intentional and a feature.
This can improve performance by many orders of magnitude.. one such pre-allocation system I know of is 30x faster than direct system allocation as-needed (in one such benchmark)
@kk I am not interested but just a suggestion. You may want to make it clear if this is for a CPA position or not. Many might think it requires a CPA when you may not actually need that.
The freemasons have decided to progress me to the next stage of initiation.
@bonifartius So far I have used cherry blue, cherry green, and now Kaihl box jade... I have all three keyboards near me.
That said it is hard to compare because it seems the sound has more to do with how the frame of the kayboard is built than the keys themselves.
