@MennoWolff

No thats not the issue, many states are still doing lethal injections and have had no trouble with supply. The issue is that we have had many lethal injections that didnt work either because a vein couldnt be found or other issues, often resulting in undue suffering. They are moving over to nitrogen gas to reduce suffering such as those unfortunate incidents.

@stux

@Oggie

Dude the narrative itself is a lie, the idea that Nixon criminalized narcotics isnt true. It was already criminalized heavily and completely 44 years earlier.

Under Nixon he passed a law that actually made drugs **less** criminalized, causing simple possession to go from a felony to a misdemeanor.

Literally not only does the reasoning in the post not make sense, but the stated facts are bald faced lies too that can easily be checked.

@MelodyCooper

@ech yea woke is far more common than this sort of racism. Obviously more subtle racists are quite a bit more common.

@MelodyCooper

That doesnt make sense. If it was done for attrition purposes the effects wouldnt benefit Nixon until well after he is out of office. If done simply as an excuse to target leaders, then those people werent drug users. Which means the drug charges were made up, which means there was no need to make drugs illegal to do it, you could have just as easily made up a similar heinous charge and used that to justify the arrest.

The logic here makes absolutely no sense.

sometime in the next few days we will begin the process to finally execute the first stage of update. The first step will be to migrate servers, that will be the big one and may result in as much as a day of downtime.

After that we will do the first upgrade, this will mostly just update some security stuff, no major changes. Once that succeeds we will start adding the other updates on top one by one.

This will be a rough one but I assure you we will be back up on the other side and will mean a more steady stream of updates and new features in the future.

@ech if it assumes as a given that racism is bad then it is antiracism (against racism). It just assumes the audience is alrady antiracist and therefore isnt trying to "sell it" :)

@grrlscientist No, not unless that felony is attached to their presidency. Someone being guilty of a miss deed shouldnt erase their pay check from a past job they did. They already did the work.

@black6

Thats exactly my point, as someone highly trained in breathing in nitrogen rich environments and someone who watched someone die from it, I can tell you it is clearly one of the most humane ways to go.

Thats why this guys post about it being inhumane is highly questionable, especially the blurb about "many scientists" without an actual study to back it up.

@stux @W_Lucht

@lonelyowl

They arent criminals, since its legal. But I think what you mean is immoral or perhaps a murderer, If that is what you meant then we agree, yes, an executioner is a immoral murderer.

@amerika @W_Lucht @stux

@W_Lucht

A friend of mine commited suicide on nitrogen gas. I can say, with remorse, I have witnessed a man die on it once. It was evident to me this was one of the most peaceful ways to die.

If you want to argue that nitrogen is a stressful way to die, please post the study, news articles are not valid sources of scientific opinion (in fact they are quite bad)

@stux

@KimPerales

Immigrants even illegal ones tend to add to our economy not take away. So generally other than giving them a more sane path to get here I'd say there isnt too much to fix (although that is a big glaring issue).

That said, I dont see democrats really fixing immigration either, quite the opposite their position seems to be to lay into open borders and let the problem get worse by passing what little process we already have.

@amerika

Not a fiction at all, painless euthanasia is very doable. A piston to the head is absolutely less humane than gas.

@W_Lucht @stux

@amerika

Why do you assume not killing a criminal equates to them running among your people. Presumably anyone who would be worthy of a death sentence would be getting life in prison instead, so regardless they wont be running among our people.

@W_Lucht @stux

@ech To me his choice of people who surround him shows his racism more, not less. Somewhere in his career he moved from oppressing black people to exploiting him, right around the time he knew it was good for his career. So now what he does is pick exclusively minorities for every single position, turning virtue signaling up to 11, and then expects people to see him as the good father figure for the blacks rather than the evil tyrant, and it works.

It is even more evident when you pay attention to his language with things like "If you dont vote for me, you ain't black" which shows 2 things 1) he thinks he knows better for the black community than their own people 2) he sees blacks as uneducated because when addressing them he felt the need to use improper english "aint" in order to come across more relatable (a word he almost never uses otherwise).

@DrALJONES

Im not sure that makes the argument you say it makes.

I mean you point out, and i would have agreed with this befor eyou stated it, that the existence of greed and corruption is magnified as population density increases. This is clearly true. This in no way is suggestive that class structures cause it, rather than the simple population density being the cause.

As for class hierarchy as an extension of gender hierarchy, that too is a tangent and even if we agreed one is an extension of the other that doesnt advance the underlying point you were trying to make. So it is moot as well.

I have worked as an employee as well as been a C-level manager (usually CTO or CIO) in many countries including quite a few european countries, the middle east, and USA.

As I said, if salaried employees are being abused with really high overtime and not enough pay, then they negotiated a shitty contract. Lots of people self-sabotage and negotiate bad contracts for themselves. But thats on them. At every stage of my career I have always negotiated strongly and as a result I have never had these issues. I would generally negotiate very high salaries, work the overtime, and negotiated 3 month vacation blocks to oppose the overtime (which was my standard as a Sr. dev and team lead). In cases where I couldnt negotiate the vacation time I eitehr ensured to put time limits in my contract or if i felt i could handle the excessive work would negotiate very high salaries to make up for it.

When I hire people I always as the hiring manager make it a point to keep my workers to an average of 40 hour weeks just to keep them at their best. Overtime happens, but when it does its offset by extra down time.

@scott_guertin @georgetakei

@kneworldodor

Thats not time theft, at least not if it is within the bounds of the contract. If your contract says the time must average to 40 hours (Which is common) then it isnt time theft as it balances out int he end. Now if that isnt in the contract then it isnt time theft because thats what you agreed to when you were hired, and if you were smart you were sure to negotiate a higher price as a consequence of that.

Now if you choose to negotiate a very poor contract for yourself that still isnt theft, thats you making poor life decisions when accepting a job.

You are always welcome to share your views if you wish, im not going anywhere. Have a nice nap.

@paezha

@DrALJONES

Has less to do with class hiararchy and more to do with corruption and greed being common among our politicians. Their class isnt the problem, the fact that we pick the corrupt people, regardless of their class, is.
