Factually wrong. Each list contributes a vote to the final list, meaning every block list sways the final output.

The fact that the list of servers which constitute the list are themselves **highly** abusive and noted for such in some cases (such as mastodon.art being one of a small number of master lists) is exactly why it is abusive and negligent of you to support it. Any block list where mastodon.art doesnt just get a vote but is part of a hand selected small list of master lists which literally define the list... no sorry but that is absolute negligence on your part.

Where this has gained some degree of attention today for the #Universeodon (and by extension #MastodonAppUK folks)

I have made use, for a while now of the minimum block list provided by @oliphant - This list combines the public block lists of a number of mastodon instances including some that I personally have had previous issues with. However, the minimum list has proven to be almost always spot on when it comes to removing servers that are known to be problematic for a range of reasons.

A couple of weeks ago that list got imported here to Universeodon, and there were a small handful (5 maybe) servers that had some existing relationship which we severed as a result of the import, which was an intentional decision on my part.

The intention behind bringing the list in was to start to align our moderation with MastodonApp, but to also try to ensure we aren't reacting to reports constantly, and that we can prevent our community from having to see content that may be upsetting.

@wild1145 For reference and transparency, he posted this literally as a direct result of threads blowing up where it has effected his user base. In that and other threads users have all started coming forward to highlight the laziness and lack of due diligence in this moderators handling of moderation issues.

In the thread that caused you to make this post there are literally people responding who are or were members of your server who are actively calling you out for you abusing your own users for criticizing you.

Its easy to get 0 users complaining when you block users from your server and refuse to respond to them anytime they criticize your choices.

You posted this because of a thread of your own users have come forward to call you out...

I mean, for starters I have an account there, so yea I know. Second all the people coming forward calling you out about your abusive moderation is another clue.

I am not talking out of my ass, everything I said I backed up with data (charts) and actual accounts from your users as they are coming forward.

Make up whatever excuses you want, the community is exposing you as we speak... Your user count speaks for itself.

Even if you plan to remove non-CSAM servers from the list after the fact, the damage is done. All those follows erased and needs to be re-formed inconveniencing hundreds of thousands of users and defaming servers all because your too lazy to do due diligence on your block list.

Yes my criticism is completely valid even if we accept your excuse on face valid, your choice was negligent and abusive to your own community and the wider fediverse community.

Just to be clear (I posted the charts) the point where user count started to plummit seems oddly in line with the date listed on your profile as the date you joined the server.

So just to be clear, all the data aligns, not to mention the ton of people coming forward (you cant see the thread cause you have them all blocked) calling you out and showing your bad-moderating practices and abuse.

The evidence speaks for itself.

Exactly, which isn't even possible once you are blocked by them. And they don't even reply to requests via email.

That's not the spirit the Fediverse should be run on, a central authority "mastodon.art" deciding for others who is "good enough" to be federated with.

We've been on this block list for no apparent reason and despite many efforts from multiple of our users to get removed, we never got any serious response from whoever put us there, expect "we don't want white tech-bros".

Too bad that Universeodon did blindly implement it. It is abusive, and I hope you would reconsider.

Similar experience.. we basically got "It doesn't matter if the accusations are real, it doesn't matter you have clear proof it was fabricated/a lie. You are on their block list and thats the criteria, take it up with them (mastodon.art et el).

I had an account on there. I asked one question which, I suppose, someone took offense to. Next thing I know, I'm suspended - cant see anyone. I questioned/appealed the decision and never heard back. 30 days later that account is toast and can't even talk to people who'd friended it in the first place.
This was late 2021 early 2022.

Then I made an account on infosec.exchange.. Jerry was very cool. Then I got the idea to spin my own instance up.. and here I am.

No, these bad decisions at universodon have been going on for at least two years.. It's only becoming APPARENT now.

Just FYI apparently #Universeodon has switched to the incredibly abusive and poorly maintained oliphant block list that is itself dictated, in part, of mastodon.art's abusive block list.
