Please don'tt forget everyone in the UFoI or planning to be.. You have to post on your Terms of Service (rules) somewhere that you are in the UFoI and that the server adheres to its rules.

You are welcome to say this or put it wherever you want as long as it is clear to your users.

Basically make sure you include two things:

1) A reference to the fact that the instance is in the UFoI, with a link to the website: https://UFoI.org

2) A reference to the fact that it follows the Code of Ethics, preferably with a link to that: https://ufoi.org/docs/code-of-ethics

I just added this myself to QOTO, attached is a screenshot of the way I did it.

@couts There is good and bad to that... The good is that if an instance admin wants to eliminate news outlets that dont have journalistic amd effectively hold news outlets accountable.

On the other hand tthe bad is that instance admins can choose what news outlets to allow and thus curate a narritive/propaganda by only allowing the news outlets that fit their opinions, rather than based on which ones have integrity.

@couts I agree with this... but they may want journalist specific instances for reasons other than verification.

@lcparra Scholar has a very small population (1/30th that of QOTO) and highly violent as radicalized (see attached as an example of a post the admin of scholar specifically condoned and would not suspend until after the FBI were called by several users).

QOTO is moderate in its moderation policies. We are one of the more moderated servers and have strict rules against most bad behavior as our ToC clearly states

Moreover so far QOTO is the only instance in the UFoI, and has one of the largest peer counts (most federated) of scholastic instances.

To recommend not joining QOTO simply because of a super small radicalized instance blocking us is a pretty silly move since you'll find you can see **far** fewer servers from most other instances.

We also have subscriptions, so you can just subscribe to users there if you REALLY want to see content, something you cant do from any other instance.

Finally, consider our local timeline, which should be most of your decision in picking a server. I will leave that up to you to explore.
