@shuttersparks I'm not sure why it has to be one or the other... Can't we just agree some people will abuse, drain, and steal from the system no matter if they are rich are poor, just as there are many rich and poor people who are good. We have to stop reducing everything to such simple terms IMO.
@nus QOTO is a version of mastodon with the quote feature. What i like about it is how its implemented. All it does is copy the url in your own post so other users can still see it but those who have the feature implemented see it properly embedded.
Even if you dont have the feature you can do it by following the syntax.

@antares Bots are usually behind anonymous Ips so its hard to track. But I dont see anything that resolves to an IP that is obviously from google or facebook.

First rule of condescension club: Well if you deserved to be here you'd already know what it is.
For what its worth the disinformation and "bad reputation" isnt very far reachig. It is limited mostly to a small group of very small servers that tend to attack most of the fedi. Overall we actually have one of the biggest footprints in the fedi.

@darth its a rampant problem sadly. Im trying to build out a federation of instances to try to address this called the UFoI, but yea its disheartening to see :(

Thanks. It is an ongoing problem but the new federation we are forming should be a powerful force against it in the end.
