Another flaw is your assumption that the feed for livestock is taking away from land grown for humans. This too is not true. Generally livestock are fed the food waste from the part of the food we cant eat. So the edible parts go to us and the human inedible parts go to the livestock, either that or the graze on grasses on mou tainous land not suitable for crops.

So everythi g about your estimates are based on faulty assumptions.

> But note that we can’t assume that land reclaimed from animals would have lower caloric output, either.

Actually we can. We know livestock can be raised on both land suitable for crops and land that isnt. We also know that a lot, and perhaps even the vast majority, are raised on rocky terrain where crops cant be grown. Therefore since anywhere from some to most of the land reclaimed from animals has 0 caloties per acre, on average we know for a fact such land will have less output than current land used for crops.

The only thing we dont know is exactly how much of the land is suitabke for crops, we just know its considerably less than 100%

All of the rest of your post ia moot since it assumes thibgs we dont know to be true about reclained land.
@bonifartius

@hendrikboom3 not sure what "style" you mean but every distro supports dual booting, you do that via the bootloader and not the distro

@hendrikboom3 guix is newer and based on guile (i find lisp styled languages unbearably ugly which is half the reason i went with nixos which uses a different but functional language)

@tripu @bonifartius

You are assuming the land reclaimed from animals would have the same caloric output per acre, thats a faulty assumption.

@admitsWrongIfProven Yes, those profiting are going to be a bit bias in this regard for sure. But lets not forget the activaists trying to save the world, as desirable as their goal may be, are equally bias and going to produce bad numbers in the other direction (this very info-graphic is an example of that as I pointed out).... in other words, the problem in getting accurate data is not one of profit so much as one of bias.

@tripu This misses a very important point... While almost all land suitable for crops is also suitable for animals the reverse isnt true. In fact it is quite often the case animals are raised on land explicitly not suitable for crops. I dont know the exact breakdown, and that would be important to evaluate this fairly. But I know from my interaction with farmers that a great many of them raise their livestock on mountainous land not suited for crops and use fertile farmland mostly for crops.. Even when the land is flat and not mountainous it is often unsuitable for crops due to the makeup of the soil (too rocky, no good drainage, etc)

@icedquinn it is common in projects where semantic versioning doesnt make sense. For example Ubuntu uses it.

@realcaseyrollins

Yea you are correct on all of that. I do suspect he was just duped (thus why i call him a tool).. way I see it if you dont have the time to do the research, and you dont even bother to talk to the person accused enough to get the facts, you probably shouldnt be talking.

However if I look at his timeline all I see is an endless stream of him telling people to block this person or that server. If his "accuse first, do research later" mentality is any indication I can only imagine just how much harm he has done to the fediverse spreading lies and misinformation while encouraging people to block each other. How much needless name calling and fracturing has resulted because of this persons negligence? He is exactly the reason we need something like the UFOI, so no wonder he is so opposed to it.. HE is the type of bad actor we are trying to put in check, people who spread lies out of laziness and ignorance.

The second he was corrected he threw up his hands and said he wont even discuss it. Then thinks my friend stux is gonna block me or something... Stux actually bothers to make informed decisions. It says a lot when someone refuses to even probe random screen shots or look past their own nose. This guy is either a troll or a tool, cant figure out which.

By the way, stux, lets get another beer so we can laugh at this asshat troll in person, just another day on the fedi). Look forward to seeing you again old friend, ill be back in the netherlands this year so lets make sure we dont miss eachother!

@PKMNLives@masto.ai

Joepie lied about the details of those interaction. Fornexample as i said we never had to deal with childporn its true. But 5 minutes after that conversation we had an emergency meeting ofnour moderators and added an explicit rule to our ToS banning it. Previousky it woukd have been covered under iklegal acts.

The bit about racism is taken out of context. We DO and always have banned for racism on our server and clearly arent freeze speech. What we dont do is defederate from other servers, big difference. Claiming we are bad actors for having good strict moderation rules and simply for our federation policy is disengenuine at best.

As for the other two links.. i feel no need to defend callibg someone fascist who literally met the definition of facism. And even the link to tbat block list only lists us as federating freely, not a free speech server.

Funny how you have still completely failed and showing even a sibgle example of **any** of our users acting as a bad actor... still waiting on that.

@realcaseyrollins @ufoi @casey-magazine @stux

@freemo @colinsmatt11 @JensHannemann Fediverse Enhancement Proposals is our alternative to W3C standardization process.
The difference is that with FEPs we don't have to agree on a single spec. Some proposals get adopted by developers, others don't. There's no central authority that decides what people should do.

@JensHannemann @freemo At the moment there isn't something like that but we might achieve something similar to it.

I suggest checking out FEP 8b32 (https://socialhub.activitypub.rocks/t/fep-8b32-object-integrity-proofs/2725) by @silverpill

He can explain it better than me, obviously.
