@msafaksari all of our features are based off community standards. Any app which supports the full set of features we support shoukd ha dle it just fine. That said it is true many apps are written with loads of bugs and either just dont implement many features or implement them i n a way contrary to the rest of the community.

Writing our own app woukd be nice. It was mentioned lately.

@eberhofer yes its complicated. Im well aware of this and other poor quality and highly biased attempts at selling that particular viewpoint. Sadly thry made very poor conclusions fro. Otherwise valid but intellectually dishonest data (much of which ive addressed before more generally).

@msafaksari we are on version 3.2.1 of qoto which is a fork of mastodon but our versioning is not equivelant. We are in fact in most ways ahead of 4.1.2 though there is one feature i need to pull in.

I am not against background checks in their current form, which is thurough and complete.

The one issue with the current setup is loopholes at gun shows. But that doesnt appear to be a huge source of actual problems so yra im for background checks as they exist today.

@eberhofer that is complete nonsense.. people are trying to **ban** all types of guns even guns that are made for small game (like ar-15). If you can ban something with one of the smallest bullets of all guns, a gun not even appropriate for hunting anything larger than a fox, then no calling it banning is entierly appropriate. Nor is "we just want a little regulation" at all a reflection of the reality.

**Exactly** now your getting it. Fewer gun deaths doesnt mean fewer deaths overall (and in fact can mean **more** dewths). And thus thr problem with using gun deaths as a metric or goal.

And why are you ignoring, conviently, the bat deaths and knife deaths and assault deaths prevented by the good guy with the gun?

Thats why the whole "Make guns elligal and gun deaths will go down" is the intellectual equivelant of thr antivaxxer " Make vaccines illegal and we can eliminate vaccine deaths". It may techbicallt be true but its intellectually dishonest because it fails to look at the big picture.
