@GeePawHill

Thanks for that. Some people are just beyond help and will spew toxicity in every thread like this guy, all while adding nothing of value. The sad part is how they are so counter-productive to their own claimed objectives. Sometimes I wonder if people like this are just russian-paid trolls trying to create fights where none clearly exist othewise.

Oh shut the fuck up. You seem less likely than Freemo to know what I'm talking about.

Define yourself by what you're in favor of, child, not what you're against.

@DoesntExist

Oh nice, a new troll on a dead thread where the OP already apologized for the people like you disrupting the thread... please share your opinions, im sure we all care soooo much.

@GeePawHill @agilealliance

@TruthSandwich yea it is probably over now, I just forgot to remove the silence, which is why I did it just now :)

@GeePawHill Oh dont worry man, I know. You dont control how people respond on posts, you're good, but thank you for checking in with me.

@TruthSandwich Its because we had mastadon.social silenced due to the recent mass-spam from them. I just unsilenced them for you.

@freemo

I have a user interface suggestion for Mastodon.

Currently, the little box where you enter your toot text is on the left side of the screen. This means that the information from that little box goes into your left eye (mostly) and is transferred to the right hemisphere of your brain. The problem is that for most people language processing is in the left hemisphere, which means all that information has to cross the corpus callosum to get to the left side of the brain to get processed. For someone like me with dyslexia that really screws things up and causes me to drop words and makes it very difficult to use.

So my suggestion is to put the little box on the right hand side of the screen or in the middle, or give the user an option as to placement and size of that little box.

That's my suggestion.

(Sometimes I write stuff in a separate window using a word processor and then copy it over to the little box, but that is kind of tedious, especially for short, quick toots.)

@Mr_Teatime @RadicalGraffiti

I think the problem is pretty equal in terms of percentage of each class who are the bad guys.

@kctipton For the record I have never voted republican and would never vote or support Trump.

@kctipton Again why would I go into examples when i have no reason to think it would be a fruitful discussion... but ok if you really insist on going down that road i can put out a few feelers to get a sense of if I think it would be productive to do a play by play and have a serious debate, to do that I need some sense if you are yourself on the far left first.

I can assume you subscribe to some, or many of the things on the left in terms of ideology, nothing wrong with that, but someone who isnt extreme left would show a balance, can you list some clearly right-leaning pieces of ideology you agree with that would counter any left-leaning ideaology you have?

Can you list any non-left politician you have voted for or supported for presidency (a republican, or even libertarian or right-of-center no-party candidate)?

While I think we both agree 99% of things Trump did as president was harmful, can you list anything Trump did that had at least some positive results (and no, doing stupid things ans strengthening support for the left or similar wouldnt count)? (honestly this one is might be a bit hard so not a huge deal if you cant)

In general can you give **any** examples of ways in which you might lean right on any issue or in any scenario, or do you generally just go straight down the left on everything 100% of the time?

I ask as a lithmus test to get a sense of if your even capable of having this conversation or if you are just fully team left in every regard, in which case it should be obvious why I wouldnt expect a conversation to be productive.

@kctipton

Yes you could point to lots of examples, just as I could point to lots of left wing examples... but that wasnt what I asked... Do you think listing examples of right-wing extremism to such a person would be a productive conversation worth having, or do you think they would just be blind to it all the same and you had wasted your time?

My point is I have not had any desire to actually get into the discussion because I already know how it will go, you will come up with exuses or deny the examples and we both would have wasted time, probably ending with you resorting to name calling or a block to feel morally superior... ultimately a waste of my time, so despite any goating I have little interest in having the conversation with someone i dont know.. if you were someone I knew enough to suspect that we could have a productive conversation then I'd be happy to

@andytiedye

@freepeoplesfreepress It usually pisses people off because both sides see it as an attack since i dont like either side... but honesty is more important.

@freepeoplesfreepress Just in case there is any confusion, I think Trump is a piece of shit human, I also think Biden is a piece of shit human... neither deserve to be anywhere near the presidency or in politics.

There is a movie called "Trump vs the Illuminati" where in some distant future a clone of Trump escapes a space prison and goes on a killing rampage.... I feel like I need to watch this movie now.

@andytiedye

Yes thats intentional. For anyone ont he far-left they would have responded in a similar sense as you have, and would be a quite fruitless conversation if I tried... now im not saying you are on the far-left either, but i generally calculate the likelyhood a conversation will have value and the odds seem low here is all, though maybe im wrong and you are quite good at not being biased and would in fact have had a good conversation, who knows, either way that wasnt the bet I was willing to make.

I mean really, if a right wing person told you they didnt think extremism existed in any reasonable numbers on the right, would you think that person stood any chance of having a productive conversation to the contrary?
