@TruthSandwich Im not suggesting states should vote red... or that red has some right to take over the state.

But it is telling when you look at a map that goes down below the county level at who is red vs blue... even the most blue states look like a sea of red.

There are no blue states, only blue cities.

Something I heard that has a lot of truth to it.

@louisrcouture Yea, atheists cant join.. agnostics, probably not. The supreme being requirement can be anything you want. It is forbidden to discuss religion at the lodges so you will never be asked what religion you are, but they do expect you to believe in something.

@louisrcouture You'd have to join at your local lodge. But yea its pretty easy to get in :)

@ambihelical Im sorry to hear that. But that does give me a good enough idea. Thanks.

@Romaq the difference is that a minecraft server doesnt rely on a healthy connected and federated network to be useful.

Here we go again... man weve been through this so many times here on the fediverse... lets stop with the toxicity please.

This rings true, especially this part: "The truly toxic idea, though, is that Mastodon instances should not only refuse to federate with Threads, b...

@cobratbq yes, i mean it is a secret society afterall... a lot of it is vague and probably doesnt become well understood until your already in it.

@cobratbq As I understand it you dont have any advantage if your family is a member. But it is something parents encourage their kids to do because they feel it will help their children grow to be better people.

The main thing your supposed to get out of it is to be a better person. The fundemental idea of freemasonry is mentorship to grow as a person.. many of the principles are to encourage you to be charitable, kind, and someone who contributes to society. There is also brotherhood in the sense that you are expected to help your fellow members just as they will help you when you need it. It seems most of the past time activities that freemasons organize focus on charity. Also many of the extrcurricular groups you can join once you reach master mason are often very charity focused. For example the Shriners are all masons who specifically want to help create charity hospitals.

@cobratbq Sadly my dad is dead and I never had any contact with my paternal line. I got to know that side of my family after his death. So despite such a long history of it in my family I never had and will never have, and exposure through my family.

@freemo

I can't quickly find the specifics, but as I understand it, Julius Caesar was stabbed with the metal styluses used for writing by the senators.

That's right, if I recall correctly... he was killed with *pens*.

@lucifargundam

@cobratbq Its not particularly sudden. It has been on the back of my mind for many years, and over the years i feel more and more drawn to it.

My family supposidly was in freemasonry since the founding of it (though its a hard thing to prove). But I never got much time with my dad so the lineage was broken with me.

@admitsWrongIfProven Well as I understand it the freemasons do have special charity and programs exclusive to members and their family. But charity is a central tenant of the organization and a great deal of charity is open to everyone.

@Baley I am not a member yet... but they do yea.

As I understand it saying you are a member and talking about it (outside of its secrets) is perfectly fine... they are a rather open fraternity in that sense.

@TruthSandwich since we have been talking have you seen any more replies pop up? I do sometimes see them load later once i start viewing.

@admitsWrongIfProven As I understand it family familiarity (birth) plays no role in it. Anyone can enter..

did you mean the term family more figuratively, as in what do they do for non-freemasons?

I think I have decided I am going to join the Freemasons...

Any out there want to have a chat with me please reach out.

@TruthSandwich Did you follow this person from before they made the post? Sometimes they dont all load right away if no one follows a user when a post is made. Though they should load as you click through them.

I dont see 45 total posts either, just some portion of the thread then.
