@JonKramer I mean these are all new developments under biden... so I guess I wouldnt be surprised if biden intent was to harm minorities by approving and supporting these policies, I mean lets face it he is wildly racist... but somehow I dont think that was hsi intent.. its hard to see how anyone could think messing up the system this bad could somehow be aimed at minorities, and leave the rich white folks alone.. especially when the issues have nothing to do with money.

@LouisIngenthron 1000% worse, but you arent likely to see it unless you actually have significant medical needs..

During covid they took telehealth which made things so easy.. you'd talk to a doctor, get a prescription, they bring it to your door, very little barriers because they didnt want patients to come in.

Now not only do you have to go in, but the barriers are insane around anything that puts the slightest risk on the doctor.. spinal injuries or any injury that needs pain meds, expect to be tortured, abused, and sent away at every turn. Have ADHD and need a controlled substance, expect to be refused and denied at every turn even with multiple diagnosis... need sleep medication because you have a sleep disorder, same problem.

Before I left those were still issues but if you called enough doctors and tried hard enough, and were willing to travel a bit, you could maybe find a solution. Now the DEA made it illegal for pharmacies to fill prescriptions from more than a few miles away for controlled substances so it has literally become impossible for most people who need medications to get it no matter what... and it is abusive to deny people care entierly, atleast in terms of the system as a whole (I get why doctors do it, the system makes them).

@DaveFernig Ok... but why would experiencing the same abuse I experienced, but at-cost (cheaper) somehow address the abuse? I am still not following.

I mean ive been treated in the EU in not-for profit systems and they clearly have their own issues just as bad, but very different in nature.

@DaveFernig Huh, not sure i follow.. what does not for profit or slavery have to do with anything?

My god I've been gone for 2 years, I come back the medical system, under biden, has degarded to the worst I have ever seen.. I had to flee the country before due to medical abuse from the system... here we are same problems again... Cant wait for Biden to be out of office... cant come soon enough.

@CarlG314 @DemocracyMattersALot

Look, im sure there are plenty of illegal things Trump has done, he is scum.. so not saying this is a witchhunt or anything...

but my god that logic is horrible.... "If you did nothing wrong why do you have anything to fear if we search your home".... god that is a scary thing to hear a citizen say.

@certainlytwice tried feather blades this morning (got some overnight shipped)... loved them.. of the three blades i tried (across 2 brands) so far feather is the nicest!

@Eutropia

I think you misunderstood something...

> If you have the technical capacity to block abusive users, but your owner won't let you, then do you *really* have the "ability"

Thats not what is going on here... The apple policy states that the owners of the platform (musk and twitter employees) must have the ability to block abusive users from the service. It makes no requirement that individual users need to be able to block.

So no you neither have the technical capacity nor will the owner let you... but neither of those has any relevance to the apple policy as it is not talking about that.

@jens

@TruthSandwich @JRBuckley Joe Biden should resign or be chased out of office for his white supremacist and pro-oligarch policies and actions, and anyone saying you should vote for the evil motherfucker is an evil motherfucker themselves.

@LALegault I mean, jack is the one who implemented the block feature when he owned it wasnt he?

Mute only does kinda make sense since blocks are so easily circumvented by just logging out or using an anonymous tab.

The only issue with mute might be if someone replies to someone muted and you get tagged and dragged into their thread. For mute only to work youd need the mute feature to auto-mute replies to a muted person.

@Blenster

Yea, I agree, actively listening of course is essential. Dismissing and hearing without any further action isnt helpful.

@freemo I think you're missing the point; the question is are you doing so deliberately?

No one individual of any background or group is perfect. One should instead listen to many voices and seek out patterns and consensus.

Listening to women talk about their experiences in the workforce with men who ignore them, talk down to them, steal their ideas, or harass them will lead to finding universal patterns of behavior you can accept as reflections of a reality we don't typically experience.

Listening to Black women will add layers of understanding regarding how racism plays a role in their treatment in life.

Etc.

Listening to many voices and seeking to find an understanding will help you grow your awareness and learn how to be a more effective helper and ally as we work to overcome these societal imbalances and make a more equitable world for us all to share.

Reducing this to a statement about believing one individual over another misses the point and leads to no new knowledge or understanding.

@Blenster

So what im hearing is its not "believe <insert minority here" what you really mean is "listen to <insert minority here>"... if thats the case I whole heartily agree.

> Reducing this to a statement about believing one individual over another misses the point and leads to no new knowledge or understanding.

I agree, which is effectively my disagreement with "believe people who are minorities".. as you point out reducing this to a statement of believing individuals based on skin color leads to no new knowledge or understanding.. but a statement about "take the time to listen to minorities" does.

@Eutropia @jens

Huh? not sure i follow what you mean... how does your inability to block personally impair the fact that users can be blocked from the service?

@lonelyowl

Im not sure what my opinion is honestly... once could say allowing blocking breaks the ability to browse publicly and anonymously by requiring extra steps (you need to logout or use a private tab). So you gain nothing by having the feature, but also make a different feature (anonymous/public browsing) work in weird and unexpected ways.

@Popehat

@garyackerman Just say it in the form of a question "What do you think about... <insert opinion here>"

@stux

Dude dont you know, all sarcastic people are Trump supports and Nazis... BAN HIM!!!

@lowqualityfacts

@lonelyowl

The difference is making another account to circumvent a mute is against the rules and would get the account banned. Browsing anonymously is allowed and encouraged.
