Every job I have ever had int he USA (which is almost all of them as an employee) had unlimited sick days AND my sick days were fully paid.

@migmit

@admitsWrongIfProven I can never predict how my interests will wax and wane day to day... especially when im so busy. But discussion is always welcome.

@migmit

Oddly enough in the netherlands you would even need a doctors note to take sick days.. in the USA I have never heard of anyone demanding a doctors note.

@migmit

Your original post was talking about how it is insanity that the US get fixes sickdays?

I presume your confused because my info says I live in the Netherlands... 1) I have a home int he USA too 2) All work ive ever done as an employee has been USA except for one job in the Netherlands (not counting consulting)

Interestingly that Netherlands job was the only one that actually had a fixed number of sick days, my USA jobs have never had fixed number of sick days.

There arent that many stages, they are just useful when talking to people

You have you have:

Beta/wakeful - when you are alert and awake

alpha - Relaxed but awake or eye closed, thoughtful but generally relaxed

Theta - Your mind is mostly inactive except for the subconscious which will be relatively inactive as well.. this state is closest to nothingness.

Delta - You will become hyper aware of your subvconscious, will hear it talk and think, and its imagery will invoke photo realistic imagery for you

REM-like, basically deep end of Delta- Dream-like state. Though in meditative states it should remain somewhat lucid.

@migmit

Me, My jobs have always given me unlimited sick days. I have literally never had a job that gave me a fixed number of sick days except when i worked int he EU...

@knittingknots2

@migmit

What do you mean no sick days... we absolutely get sick days.

You are right americans tend to go to work to save their sickdays.. but thats largely because they would rather use sickdays on days they arent sick.

Something in the air, I want to code more than game right now too :blobfoxshocked:

@admitsWrongIfProven Not sure if you are describing theta or delta stage to be honest... Usually in theta your mind will be mostly off except youll be able to observe your subconcious activity, except you wont engage with it. In Delta you usually have more imagery and can manipulate photo realistic imagery in delta stage.

@admitsWrongIfProven I am a big fan of medication, both with and without the "mystic stuff" :)

Its weird, I want to work right now more than play video games... but at the same time I feel like I should take a break for a few hours or maybe ther est of the day...

@hans You are the second person today who has recomended that link. And for entierly different reasons.

@hans

Apparently holland existed (though was no independent) as early as 1083 (first written record). Just checked.

@admitsWrongIfProven

@hans

As I understand it the Dutch were quite old by the 17th centruty.. By that point they already started recovering land from the water.

@admitsWrongIfProven

@mxtthxw The number of borders means a hell of a lot less thant he length of it, especially relative tot he size of the country. The USA has **far** more exposed borders than most countries.

Besides one of those borders is with canada, and we all know they nuke the USA in a second if we even blinked :)

@hans

I'd be curious to take a closer look at how the borders might have changed between the Netherlands and Germany over the years. I know the Dutch were their own nation going back quite a ways at least, but I suspect the borders have moved quite a bit.
