@Paulos_the_fog thats fair. I do find brits and americans can use expat rather generously in reference to themselves
@freemo It probably went like this:
Person 1: Your talk of counting vibrations of a twine is witchcraft.
Person 2: No, it makes a difference. Watch: (vibrates string at 261.63 Hz) Seeee?
Person 1: C? That is absurd! Graphemes are for scribes, not bards.
Person 2: And judgment is for judges, not peasants.
Person 1: ...Tell me more about your black magic.
@Paulos_the_fog generally expats are temporarily in another country while immigrants have made the move perminantly, by definition.
Less effort, but also less considerate. Muting you would mean they have written you off, by politely asking you to be respectful and not to engage them on this further (which you apparently disregarded and did anyway showing your true colors here).
Thats the difference, a normal person will just politely disengage when something doesnt interest them. A toxic person will start screaming about blocks and muting and personal attacks on the way out.
The difference here is stark, and its clear your on the toxic side of the fence here, along with the OP. Once someone politely asked you to disengage, and you felt the need to double down, that said it all.
@tatzelbrumm Right, and such a windinstrument **if** the dimensions are preceisly standardized would be a frequency reference itself. I agree at that point you have a somewhat standardized middle C.
But when did wind instruments become universally standardized in their dimensions? Moreover when did such a standard become closely aligned with a specific musical note.
> How can you determine absolute pitch of musical ensembles from times before precise frequency measurement devices were available?
You cant, thats was the whole point of my post. Today we tune to specific frequencies as a base line. In the past it was arbitrary. How far back in the past determines how arbitrary it is.
Thats the whole point, a song that may have survived a long time may have been intended for a very different pitch than it is in modern times. Unless they had some standard way to get an approximate baseline pitch (such as defining a standard for the size of a tuning fork)
@tatzelbrumm Huh? I dont follow how you got to the consequent from that antecedent.
What are you on about... Everytime you say "Trump is an asshole" are you required to go off on a full diatrabe to justify it... nope. Now I dont mind explaining myself if asked, but to assume that because I didnt just add a full workup on my initial comment without even being asked that I am somehow deserving of a mute is, well, kinda wackadoodle as far as I can see it.
And yes I **do** understand why someone may not want to waste energy on debating it... guess what, you dont have to. You can literally hear that someone agrees with you on some candidates (hating trump) and disagrees on others (liking biden) and you dont have to actually waste energy into having a debate about it. you can literally just say "yea i like Biden to each their own"or say nothing at all and just move on.
Thats kinda the point, the fact that you think anyone needs to waste energy on the fact that someone likes different candidates than you is usually a good indication YOU are the toxic one for caring that much about people agreeing with you int he first place.
Argument for what? Provocation for what? No one is arguing anything, I am just agreeing trump is shit, and voicing my opinion that so is biden. No one is trying to be convinced of anything. It is only trying to be a lithmus test for people who are going to loose their shit over someone not thinking your racist-history candidate is good. If you loose your shit over someones opinion, one as you point out was just made in passing and not even made into an argument, then yea, you are doing me a favor by muting yourself out of the conversation.

You can tune any instrument to any arbitrary frequency for center-c and as long as all the notes are of the same relative difference between them the melodies will generally work and harmonize. As long as all the instruments are synced it will sound ok in a band too.
In modern day we have a definition of what frequency center C is. But I have to wonder, how do we know the modern day frequency for middle-C is anywhere near the frequency used historically. In fact, when even was the idea solidified at all?
@bibliolater I suppose delusions are the way we express denial.
I know right, the american's narcism is the whole reason we have clowns like Trump and Biden in power... if we dont start getting some real leaders elected and a more pragmatic mindset as a people we wont last long...
@rolle i suspect most of your friends on threads come from the fedi no?
@bluGill yes but the races didnt evolve till later. And more importantly it isnt immigration if your thr first ones there.
WHICH PIC IS BEST? #1,2#,#3,#4 ?
