@freemo @ML2 @LouisIngenthron parties are cancer. centrists and moderates are what you get when they cherrypick policy instead of engaging in tribalism.

@darnell

> I know people who are bi-polar & most take their medicine.

It is very individual. Bipolar is not a "you have it" or "you dont" .. there are types, sub types, and level of sevarity. A person with a very mild case will have a much easier time being treated and staying on it than someone with a much worse case.

It would be incorrect to assume just because many people with bopolar are treated and have success that that must be the case for Ye specifically.

Also keep in mind what you see is usually only the part them and their family let you... for many people with bipolar if they have a relapse and stop taking their meds (or dont) it is not uncommon for them to stay away from the public (usually with the help of their family) until they can get better. So you very well just may never see this side of them. Keep in mind Ye follows that pattern, he has been isolated from the world as a result of him not medicating. Only reason you know about it in this case is because he is famous, if it were an ordinary person you'd probably never know.

> I did encounter a violent one who in the past refused. Let's just say friends & his family were not going to put up with his 🐂💩 & gave him the option of taking his medication or suffer the consequences as an outcast.
> He wisely took his medicine.

Its great he had family who forced his meds on him... but this also just goes to show how people off their meds think they dont need them and will resist it and its only when their life is indanger (like living on the street) you can sometimes force them to take it.

But Ye has money, so this wont work on him. He doesnt depend on anyone so they cant force him to take his meds.

> Ye is an adult & is responsible for his actions.

I find it very harmful to those with mental health problems to spread this kind of harmful ideology (I know your a good person so im not saying this to attack you). I do hope you reconsider it.

The fact that he is an adult doesnt negate his mental disease or that he is a victim of it.

When you have a disease that dictates your entire personality and actions, then no he is not responsible for his actions. The fact that you had a friend that was forced to take a pill once when his life was at risk took it is hardly a good argument.

> He obviously can take care of himself.

I mean, that doesnt seem obvious to me. But even if it where not sure how being able to brush your teeth comb your hair and feed yourself changes the fact that your entire personality and decision making capability is at the whim of your disease.

@realcaseyrollins

@darnell

I just did some checking in the scientific journals.

Of people who have bipolar and need treatment, 40% of them refuse to take their meds despite having access.

It would seem your personal view of having many friends with bipolar who all take their meds very much inaccurate. It would seem a very large portion of the general bipolar population refuse medication.

@realcaseyrollins

Humans are unbearable with their little imaginary obsession with "who is at fault"... fault is a construct with almost no relevance.. there is an infinite chain of events leading up to everything that happens and any one of them could have changed the course. All we do is obsess over the one that pisses us off the most like it is somehow special.

i don't think people who "just take meds bro" actually take psych meds :blobcatgoogly:

@darnell His ex-wife has repeatedly stated that Ye was unwilling to take his medicine. He is choosing to be irresponsible so he will not get sym...

@katrinakatrinka

> So, you slept through the bank and auto manufacturer bailouts by Obama

Thats a fair point, that would be a right-leaning decision.

But you are aware if a politician does 20 policy decisions ont he left and 1 policy decision on the right, that it is still highly erroneous to try to claim that person is on the right, dont ya think?

> anti-labor actions Biden took against rail workers who wanted to strike?

This one im not familiar with. If true see above comment. But what are you referncing here?

> Not all of the things you said Obama and Biden pursued are even possible in our current capitalist representative democracy.

Ok, so what? How does that change if Obama is left or right wing if infrastructure or other politicians or whatever happens to make his goals impossible. That literally changes nothing about where Obama is in the spectrum even if true, or Biden.

> It'd be illegal for the government to seize private businesses.

We've done it in the past. When we passed anti-monopoly laws companies were seized, divided, and resold.

> The government only seizes private property from poor and disadvantaged people who don't have the resources to fight police civil asset forfeiture in lengthy court processes.

They certainly do that too... though still no relevance to what your responding to.

@pyranose @georgetakei

@pyranose

> Funny what you think is left are all basic human rights in my country.

Are you suggesting the left doesnt support human rights, therefore by being human rights they are not on left oriented ideas?

Like ok, its a basic human right, so the left has some principles such as supporting basic human rights... how are you even disagrring?

> I’ll give you some real left actions:

So again your saying the left doesnt support human rights? and as such when i pointed that out was wrong?

> Increase taxes on the rich to post war levels.

Heading in this direction are both things Biden and Obama did, increasing tax on the rich.

> Close all corporate tax loopholes.

Against something both Obama and Biden worked towards by proposing on quite a few occasions to close corperate loopholes in the tax code.

> Nationalize essential utilities

That would indeed be an extremely left move. As far as I know no democrats have pushed for this. But when all of their policies are clearly on the left, not having pushed for some arbitrary policy on the left you want to see doesnt stop them from being left, it just makes them a less-extreme version of the left, that is all.

> Nationalize resources to fund society

This has been pushed for by both Obama and Biden. For example the nationalized fund that paid off school loans would be an example

> Salary caps on top level executives

I dont know if they actively pushed for this as a law or not. But they have stated several times they agree with this stance.

> Guaranteed living wages

Both Obama and Biden have consistently pushed for increases to try to get us to a living wage.

> Universal right to unionize

Both Obama and Biden have pushed to support the rights of unions to be forced on workers against their will and removing the right for workers to choose for themselves to join a union.. so yea they have done this too, its a big issue.

So almost everything you listed applies to Obama, Biden, and most democrats... glad we could agree democrats are on the left.

@georgetakei

@freemo sums up what i know about it pretty well.

i actually only remembered him about a week ago for is role as annoying musician in "forgetting sarah marshall". looked up what he does now and gave his podcast a listen.

fast-forward a few days he is cancelled.

:itsaliens:

So I just heard about this through @bonifartius ... maybe im missing some details but let me see if i got this straight.

1) Russel Brand was accursed of some sort of sexually inappropriate activity, not sure what it is yet, but sounds serious. While serious as of yet no evidence has been made public, no trial, and his guilt is unknown.

2) Based on only accusation and rumer the UK parliment decided he should be treated as if he is guilty before a trial

3) the UK parliment has reached out to several platforms asking to deplatform him as punished for something we havent determined if he did yet

4) Platforms like YouTube saw no problem with this and agreed.

Is this seriously where we are at....

Conspiracy theorists: Man everyone is a sheep, they just believe everything told to them.

All conspiracy theorists in unison: No one has ever isolated a virus.

Just a reminder @BetaCuck4Lyfe has a habit of going around and mocking vaccinated masked doctors who work with COVID infected people and catch COVID... Real piece of work.

Here is the link he has in his comment in the screen shot for reference:

This was in response to me pointing out some misinformation he posted to his page that would fuel anti-vaxxers, which apparently really pissed this dude off.

inb4: This was in response to me making a sarcastic comment that was clearly sarcastic in context but when shared out of context may be misleading... So be prepared im pretty sure his tactic will be to link an out of context quote but when you see the thread it is clear im arguing for the opposite. Luckily I took screenshots of his anti-vax/misinformation nonsense in case he tries this shit.

Just got back from a camping trip and one of our gang tested positive for COVID...

Looks like this will be the 8th time i catch covid... we will see in a day or two. Lets hope this 8th round is as mild as the 7 before it.

I have always tried to respect peoples choice on pronouns. I never really had any objections to it as long as it was one of the standard language pronouns (he, she, they).

But as I sit here reflecting I keep coming to the conclusion that it shouldnt exactly work that way. We should of course have the right to pick whatever gender we want (including non-binary). Likewise we have the right to demand of people they use the language that matches our gender (which may be different from our sex). What we dont have a right to do is dictate to them what language they use, or what pronouns for that matter.

If a woman is addressed by a person it is my right as the speaker addressing them to decide if i want to use "She, ma'am, lady, hey you" whatever I want to express what i want to express. ma'am showing more respect than she, etc. No one has a right to dictate to me how I address anyone, but you do have a right to demand I treat you like the person you are, and the gender you are.

For the most part that wont be a problem. I think most people who are not CIS-gender would be ok so long as they are addressed according to their gender. I think the times this might get offensive to some are 1) when people want to use exotic pronouns like Xir, they wont get what they want and probably be mad about it 2) when addressing non-binary people there are two gender-neutral pronouns considered acceptable in english "they" and "he" (yes he is gender-neutral in some contexts, and masculin in others)... the non-binary case could be problematic when a gender-neutral "he" is used because some people dont know its gender neutral and may erroneously assume it was used to represent male gendering. That said, thats a matter of education.

So i am thinking of writing my own digitalmode... based on but with several improvements.....

The coding and algorithm is easy enough... what worries me is the difficulty ill have in testing and debugging... im struggling to think of good ways to do a lot of it... I need to obviously figure out a way to test it that doesnt require transmitting over the air (though a real world test is needed too)....

My hope for the SCOTUS in the future is that they stay conservative just long enough to strike all the worst gun control laws off the record... and then once we get there have the SCOTUS go neutral again with a fairly equal division between left and right wing ideology.

I feel like given the trajectory we are on that seems reasonable that by the time one of them dies a liberal president will be in place to nominate the replacement.

My thinking is, while im excited to see Gun Rights to be honored again, the other stuff they do can be very damaging and harmful. But thankfully gun rights are a bit harder to take back so my hope would be once the SCOTUS goes neutral again they will repair any damage done while leaving the reestablished gun rights in tact.

I am actually appalled and shocked that 1/3 of people thing porn is morally wrong. As a society I figured we got past this point...

I want one of those diseases that infects your brain and makes you go bat shit loony toons crazy, but you are so disconnected from reality you are actually happy all the time..... yea i want this infection.
