@freemo Wait till you learn the irl US nuclear codes. :ablobtonguewink:

LOL Picard's destruct self-destruct "secret" code was "0 0 0 destruct 0"... it should have just been "password" would have been more secure :)

Students asked if they could culture my belly button. Not only is that a hell yeah for , but also I was pretty tickled that they felt comfortable asking this at the end of the first week of classes!! (probably lots of normal harmless Staphylococcus epidermidis)

@freemo how typical. no one cares until you work up a stink.

A curious fact about 142,857: Its first 6 multiples are numerical anagrams of itself

Hi, wanted to let you know I implemented AP on my static site, I incorperated some of your code.

In fact, I fixed quite a few huge bugs (your code actually didnt work-as-is), as well as added quite a few new features and reworked how you did a few things. But despite that you were a HUGE help so thank you.

I am contacting you in case you wished to backport my fixes (though you would have to adopt my license) to your site.. If you have issues with the license let me know and I can make an exception for you of course.

You can see my static site using the code here: flear.org and you can follow the account associated with it here: @flear

Let me know if I can help with anything. I have added you to the list of people who contributed code in the source to ensure you get appropriate credit.

genocide is bad, but it generally brings about international reproach. genocide with international support is truly terrifying.

Most know that ants dig in the dirt, or maybe they live in a decaying log. But ant nest diversity is vast.

Some ants make "carton" a paper-like substance used to construct nests in trees. Other ants use the silk of their larvae to bind leaves together for a green living next. Some ground-nesting ants build flood levies in concentric circles to protect the entrance from monsoon rains. And of course, there are the wood ants who make massive mounds of pine needles.

Ants made all of these!

History shows religion as a mixed bag. Sometimes, reinforces conflicts, sometimes, deflate them and even unify peoples.

Wars are always about economy: land, resources, workforce, political power...

Politicians have used religion as any of the other tools they have to lead/fool people: nations, revenge, fear, ancient grievances, false fatherhoods...

I don't know if it's the network effect of having more people or what, but it seems like virality of posts is much more of a thing than it used to be a year ago. I now frequently see posts that are boosted by totally different follow-groups.

Add a summary of blog posts as well as some simple formatting to the posts made.. I decided against adding the full content of the post mainly because it would loose most of the formatting and may render garbage in long format.

Either way ActivityPub for static websites is coming along nicely.

Last monthly easily set the new record for the hottest global sea surface temperatures during the month of September...

Data available from NOAA ERSSTv5 (psl.noaa.gov/data/gridded/data). Methods detailed in doi.org/10.1175/JCLI-D-16-0836.

I have been thinking lately.. if there is any significant distinction between humans and other animals I wonder if it is not "consciousness" or even "intelligence" but rather simply that we have a separation of conscious and subconscious minds. It seems to me that most animals are just a direct expression of their subconscious with no conscious component acting as a filter. Or at the very least their conscious component is greatly minimalizaed

Just a reminds... sugar is just dehydrated vegetable juice (cane plant).

I wonder how much money twins seperated at birth can make from participating in medical experiments... They are such a rarity I would expect them to be able to make a lifes living doing that, and hopefully a lot of money... I wonder...

So I managed to add to a static website I just put together. I will be modifying it so I use the same code on my personal blog too.

Basically it supports followers, and when a new page is added (like a news entry, or a new project) then if your following the website it will show as a status in your feed.

Even cooler, if you comment or like the status from here you will see that comment and status on the website. Yes I can block people if they abuse this, as well as servers.

Check it out by following @flear which represents flear.org

Its a very early beta, so the look of the site will still be heavily modified and I will add some more support soon. But this covers all the basics needs.

We will keep @flear@flear.org strictly to major posts and have it linked to the website at flear.org

Meanwhile this account will mostly focus on non-professional microblogging posts and statuses. I wil reboost posts from the main account here as well.

The posts from here will appear on the main side in the side bar.

I get giddy every time I see my static website generated blog announce a new blog post to the fediverse... Cant wait to port it to my main website soon too :)
