@freemo I'm a BDS activist, so don't take this as an attempt to back up zionist narratives, but Jews have recorded history in Palestine wrt to the Jewish-Roman Wars, which saw their expulsion, and Samaritan Jews have had a continued presence in Nablus since ~100BC, and still do today (they are few, maybe 300, but I've been to their village -- they are Palestinians. and yes they are Jews, just not Rabbinical jews; the Pentateuch is Torah, with some key differences).
whether we Ashkenazis have roots in Palestine, I believe just vague traces at the genetic level due to marriages with Sephardic and maybe some Samaritans as well, but from what I understand we're the product of assyrian jews migrating to central asia and marrying with caucasian and turkic tribes, some of which converted to Judaism, and continued migrating westward, eventually settling among germanic tribes in the area that spans from today's Belarus to Estonia.
So its done! I finally released a fairly easy to install (from scratch) Hugo based Static Site generator with full ActivityPub support.
It has step-by-step instructions on how to set it up for your own blog or static website.
One of the coolest features for me, other than having your static site blog posts show up as posts in the Fediverse is the support for interacting with those posts. Any replies you leave, likes, or boosts will show up in the "comments" section of the website on the page associated with the post. How cool is that!

It's not about shifting blame from one side to the other, but about understanding that both sides are doing truly terrible things that perpetuate the endless cycle of violence between them. Anyone condemning one side and standing with the other is, therefore, inherently hypocritical.
Another interesting fact about #Israel ... There is no historical evidence that a kingdom of Israel in anctient times **ever** actually existed. In fact most non-religious scholars feel that it either didnt exist or at the very least the writings about it were first written long long after it may have existed. This is evident because of countless anachronisms that we know couldnt be historically accurate (as they didnt exist yet for the time period)... so scholars have been able to reasonably conclude the account in the bible was in all likelihood made up at a later time.
In short, #Israel 's entire claim of it being an "ancient ancestral land" is based entirely on the bible and not accepted as historical fact by historians...
Yet again people kill for their gods, gods who tell them the first rule is not to kill.

I am not personally claiming if my **opinion** is he or israel existed.. I can only say that I dont use the bible as a historical reference and neither should anyone else. Least of all to justify a war.
The history is lost.. its possible they existed, its possible they didnt.. my spirtual beleifs or "gut" take really shouldnt matter there.
But if you want my answer anway I'd say this... There was probably someone and something that resembles the things int he bible in one way or another.. I dont think they are complete fiction. But since the bible spent ~100 years as oral tradition before being written down in most cases we know the stories in it have changes **dramatically** between versions. The version we have says literally different stuff than the version first written... So while there was probably someone that resembled a king david the reality of who he was and what he did is probably radically different than the word for word details int he bible.

This was an over the top provocation obviously intended to make Israel commit its entire military to an on the ground offensive in Gaza. Hostage taking too, you cannot rescue hostages with a bomber. Otherwise Israel might just level Gaza.
This feels like the moment in a movie where the bad guy, acting wildly overconfident for his known capabilities, reveals his secret weapon. What is their plan? Stalingrad style?

I am moving away from thinking in terms of "either side" because I have learned there are more than two. some of the groups are israeli civilians, israeli government payrolled terrorists, palestinian civilians, and the hamas terrorist group. I am not clear yet on what other groups there are in it. what a heartbreaking, infuriating situation.
Since caffeine is natural in certain plants I wonder if this is somehow an evolutionary advantage, and if this species of ant might have a preference for eating plants that have caffeine.

Just a reminder, #Israel (along witht he hamas) both have a well recorded history of using children as human shields during military conflicts, targeting civilian populations recklessly, enacting punishment intentionally on civilians, and generally engaging in terrorism.
These arent speculation, they have been called out many many times by Amnesty International, the UN and many other international bodies...
If you want to be appaled at terrorism in Israel you cant do so objectively if you forgive either side.

The US bombed the fuck out of Afghanistan, propped up a corrupt government and warlords, oversaw a collapse of infrastructure and public services and most of the country pushed into poverty, and then it acted surprised the Taliban still had a steady stream of recruits.

Below is the original borders of Israel in Blue (some might consider Judah part of it since they were jewish, but it was a separate country).
Regardless of if you consider the yellow and blue together as one it is obvious that most of ancient israel was contained in the borders of the modern bank.. and at least half of modern day israel was never part of the ancient lands of israel according to its first borders (obvious we dont count places it invaded as that isnt their ancestral land).
No matter how you slice it #Israel is in the wrong here and #Palestine is an occupied country.
