@freemo You're in for a treat!

A series of someone thinking "What could someone with IT knowledge do" and no moral inhibitions. Enjoy!

Words can not express how fricking cool my new keyboard is. And now just cause i soldered it from scratch, but it just has so many extras. My favorite is the three oled (one arrives tomorrow) which shows thi gs like my WPM.

Giving birth to a child is the most selfish thing a person could do. Raising a child is the most selfless thing a person can do.

Parents are nice and all, but those who adopt are (often) saints :)

Woot. I half finished my fully from scratch aplit key keyboard wth oled... literally half finished so far :)

@freemo interesting way to put it, #1 also seems to cover a lot of animals too, surprised that it is not in the lead

good poll! I put way more time thinking of it than just click and scroll :D

What makes murdering morally wrong?

I think I am very unusual in the sense that I believe abortions should be tax-paid, free to everyone, and pregnancy tests should also be free.... BUT I also think abortion should be very limited, to something around the first **10 weeks** at most.

I've had both right and left leaning folks loose their shit over that. Always entertaining

@freemo

Trust me, my behaviour was not acceptable at all.

Here's a silly example: someone makes a post asking for help with parsing JSON-LD. In spite of me having no idea what JSON-LD even is (back then), my response was naively to tell that person to "use a JSON parser". Not helpful at all, and makes me come off as an idiot.

What's even more sad is that no one called me out on that behaviour, leaving me always wondering why is my engagement online is useless, and wondering why I had no real friends.

Just being a guy who knows how to listen makes my social network slightly more broader than having no social network at all. Friends—even if it's just one or two friends—are necessary for a decent life.

@TruthSandwich @georgetakei

I'm 66 years old. This isn't the first time I've decided not to support a candidate over the years & you calling me a "Trumper" is not going to sway me in the least. #GenocideJoe hasn't just alienated me. I don't think the Pro-Palestine protesters are in any hurry to vote for him either. And I'm sure there are many out there that have their own reasons.¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Netanyahu reiterating today that no aid workers will enter Gaza until all hostages are released. Collective punishment of the civilian populace is a war crime. Period.

I am just going to start referring to Palestinians by the more accurate term "natives".

@freemo @ech @dashrandom Amazing. Getting opposition to "do not beat kids".

Could the opposing people please disclose if they are US citizens or from somewhere else?

@ech @dashrandom

> You’re assuming people you disagree with are doing what they do with the worst possible motives, rather than for the reason they say they’re doing it. You’re doing this for no discernible reason. It’s weird.

Nah you have it backwards. I have witnessed people beating their kids universally having the worst possible motives, without a single exception. As such I came to the conclusion to disagree with their actions.

> Here’s one of several problems with it: I don’t know, maybe Dash thinks corporal punishment is a responsible way to raise kids, and here maybe you have a chance to convince someone! But instead, you blow the opportunity: you come off like an unhinged person, certainly unlikely to convince anyone who knows very well that they personally use corporal punishment because they honestly believe it is the best way to keep their kid from running with scissors.

If seeing people who beat kids as bad people with bad motives comes across as "unhinged" I'd suggest **you** or anyone who might think that is more likely to be the unhinged person and just projecting.

You also assume my goal is to convince someone of something and to use less honest language to manipulate them, hiding my actual opinions and giving a fake persona in the hopes of convincing someone... My goal is not to convince anyone, and I damn well have no intention of manipulating people by hading my unadulterated opinion in order to get a more favorable reaction. My only goal is to share my opinions, and their reasoning. I dont expect a child beater to ever be convinced, if they are great, if they arent its par for the course.

@freemo @dashrandom I think you know what I mean. 😂 You're assuming people you disagree with are doing what they do with the worst possible motives, rather than for the reason they say they're doing it. You're doing this for no discernible reason. It's weird.

But instead, you blow the opportunity: you come off like an unhinged person, certainly unlikely to convince anyone who knows *very well* that they personally use corporal punishment because they honestly believe it is the best way to keep their kid from running with scissors.
