@Gargron I need to ask for a desperately needed but I hope simple feature.
The ability to retroactively suspend all accounts that signed up with an e-mail from a blacklisted address.
We have a massive number of spam accounts that register dozens or more accounts at a time before spamming allowing them to easily circumvent the email blacklist system.
@n0btc You just do DMR or you do C4FM too? I am C4FM capable now on HF, VHF, and UHF now with access to an WiresX repeater now too if you want to do a QSO sometime.
So I have been having a lot of fun using Spacemacs (Emacs + Vim) lately as my new IDE. Its a game changer for sure. One thing I find particularly fun is the "pretty-mode" extensions I managed to program into it (had to write my own layer that I derived from some existing code). I'll explain each aspect of pretty-mode in a second but first check out some screen shots at the bottom of this post to see what it looks like.
If anyone wants to replicate my configuration the full setup is here: https://git.qoto.org/freemo/pretty-spacemacs
Pretty-git is the most functionally useful of them all. When you make a git commit it helps you format your git message using the standard format where you start with one keyword classifying the commit (such as fix, feature, refactor, etc) then a colon, then the text. It provides a list of selectable keywords and adds it to the git message. Moreover it can replace these keywords visually with descriptive icons (such as a little red bug for bug fixes). Later when you look through the git history you see these icons where the keywords should be making for a very nice visual representation.
My favorite is the pretty-code. Its a simple idea, it replaces certain keywords of phrases in code with equivelant mathematical symbols. So, for example null/nil/none will be replaced with the empty-set math symbol (a circle with a slash through it), similarlity stuff like not equals (!=) will be replace with an equals mark with a slash through it. You can fully customize what symbols are replaced and what it is replaced with. Also when you cursor over a symbol it temporarily reverts back to the keyword it replaced so you can see what it means. Searches and of course the underlying code itself (and in git) is unchanged.
pretty-shell is just a shell with some nice font-awesome fonts to make it pretty, usually informative so different icons might represent if a directory is a git repository or if it has staged changes and what not.
Finally pretty-outline. This basically just gives bullet points (useful in org-mode and note dating) some pretty icon representations rather than circles. Pure eye candy on this one.

ok so I’m absolutely obsessed w algorithmic casual game ads right now. this one seems to be about dealing with flooding and mice simultaneously while pregnant in jail
Created a new build of #Mynewt OS on #PineTime Smart Watch @PINE64 ... For testing firmware upgrade over #BluetoothLE https://gist.github.com/lupyuen/47f931a3acaad3a1d826c11023114f8b
So while my top-end rig is being repaired i decided to buy a new cheaper rig as a temporary standin. I decided to get a FT-991A. It has a waterfall display and can do digital voice on both HF and VHF/UHF which means it will actually still be useful to me after my main rig is fixed. Looking forward to trying C4FM over HF frequencies!
Wanted to share a little screen recording sneak peak of the NCurses display working over Telnet for the mmorpg/mud (text based) I've been working on.
FYI i wanted to show this off at full resolution to show the full sized composite window possible... the video may even be larger than your native resolution. Though the game is playable at low resolutions as well the display will scale accordingly.

A really nice infographic giving some basics regarding antibodies and immunity.
Ugh. Of the many ways SARS-CoV-2 seems to affect us, this is scary...

The Song of the Wondering Aengus
I went out to the hazel wood,
Because a fire was in my head,
And cut and peeled a hazel wand,
And hooked a berry to a thread;
And when white moths were on the wing,
And moth-like stars were flickering out,
I dropped the berry in a stream
And caught a little silver trout.
When I had laid it on the floor
I went to blow the fire a-flame,
But something rustled on the floor,
And someone called me by my name:
It had become a glimmering girl
With apple blossom in her hair
Who called me by my name and ran
And faded through the brightening air.
Though I am old with wandering
Through hollow lands and hilly lands,
I will find out where she has gone,
And kiss her lips and take her hands;
And walk among long dappled grass,
And pluck till time and times are done,
The silver apples of the moon,
The golden apples of the sun.
-- W.B. Yeats
This poem really resonated with me. I think its because as a kid I would constantly dream of this magical woman who lived in my basement and when I woke up I could never find her.
Interesting fact of the day. According to current understanding it is believed that the majority of planets in the Milky way are Rogue planets (do not orbit a star).
In fact of all the planets in our Milky Way it is thought at least 55% of them are rogue planets.
Because we can only observe Jupiter sized or larger rogue planets, giving us that figure, it is likely there are quite a few more than this which are smaller. Though it also depends on how we define planet since typically it depends on the nature of its orbit whether it is called a planet or a moon.
With that said I think this also highlights the error in the redefinition of the word planet which caused Pluto to be demoted. It was a day of bad science as it creates issues with this sort of language. the older definition of planet I still feel would be more useful and fitting and would allow for smoother communication in these scenarios.
I miss the CD caddy type CD drives.. really sad they went out of existance. They made so much sense for protecting and storing CDs...
I'd like to publicly thank #QOTO for its #nextcloud service.
Since the university went into lockdown, the need of passing material between students has become a serious issue.
Using wetransfer and such, with links that died out after a week, and were for one file at a time and difficult to organize, was a mess.
Google drive gave problems to everyone, was difficult to coordinate, kept asking for changing password and was difficult to share with someone a file if he didn't have access. Beside that, it was limited to 15 GB, and now that also video lessons and notes are being uploaded, that wasn't enough.
With nextcloud we are managing to keep over 3 years of Natural Sciences university students coordinated with the study material, notes, and slides.
We are heavy on the server right now, around 25 GB and counting every day, but when the lockdown will finish I'll try my best to make us light again.
Meanwhile, thanks #QOTO !
I decided to start publishing me playing some stuff on my peertube channel, as a way to motivate me to get better and get over my shyness...
I'm not very good, but whatever, you gotta start somewhere. Hopefully with time I'll look back and laugh at the goofy attempts =D
This is the first song. From now on I'll just boost my peertube status with every video

Medieval armor was likely a lot more agile and comfortable than people realize.
LOL so apparently I just noticed in one of the episodes of Star Trek Enterprise they tried to use one of those Radio Shack 100 in 1 electronics kits as an actual engineering prop. Never picked this up before but omg the lawls.
Also attached a picture of the actual retail device (technically marketed as 500 in 1)
