Making a bit general in my reply, I think this is overall more a reflection that nobody really cares or is more fear-based without experience. I don't mean to say you personally don't have experience but many people don't and so the visual site of posts or pictures can be concerning but again people are people and we have to try and respect them if really it's not just one big fake thing which I don't think is and living in cosmopolitan areas it becomes like 'eh ok just another type' rather than big alarm... not saying cities are best but good for training / realising there is more to it all.
Also the controlling powers do well to demonise - like the 'war on this' and 'war on that' and slowly we see it's just war on people. I hope I don't distract too much but it's hardly love for people out there so this is just one fracture of that otherwise more balance would exist even in differences but in bad hands it's used again the others 'weaponised' of what you mention sex, lgbt, drugs, depression, atheism, and the others. So there is the real version and hollywood " it's ok for us to sell it " versions.

So going a bit on point also all old ways are also all tested (homosexuals were surprisingly quite normal in many places or other examples of 'strange' exist like 10 wives... and I think it's best just to accept and give reasoning rather than hate unless it's really war directed to you or based on military force for you to do the same.

There is some mixing of topics in what you said which seems typical of jumping in sensitive topics to things that are borderline "nothing to do with it" but I accept people have this opinion like for black people who never saw a black person before...
I could be wrong and apologise. If you don't have experience talking to 'blacks' (as an example) then easy to have judgement without experience.

Back to the the global methodology, it's war (soft mostly) and everything can seem problematic - queer people, queer liberation or liberation and any of these words, USA sure - and these always existed,.. just never dealt with by previous generation other than with iron fists and ignorant boots.

America is responsible for many things but also OTHER governments copying that banking way of 'conversation' with people (stealing from them and creating massive fractures)
(never listening just using banking system = no harmony debt system and real problems come from this)
So without hating America and more the patterns of bad 'success' this
is what dominos everything adn we wouldn't care so much if we were happy or felt cared for by our own sectors.

If I can guess also (without judging) what people don't see or communicate with often is also often see as a problem or threat... and maybe it always the way as there is very little any sense of real progress... (or communication on your media channels about it - for example one side talking to the other)...
Lots of phases people have to go through from one side (banking) to the other (humanity) and back again maybe, to get harmony (balance between people without people in the middle me$$ing things up and yea America A LOT !)
Just got to prepare for it and get and experience talking to 'them' (any sector of humanity) as much as possible because eventually it's 'us' - whatever we support - and inescapable change and diversity)
