Events organizing system for the Fediverse... Like Polls with consent... towards more contact with similar / like-minded people who voted...
Hi and good work on an Events organizing system for the Fediverse ( like Facebook ).
I was looking at Polls with optional visibility after voting (via optional opt-in ) before coming across your efforts...
https://qoto.org/@freeschool/108057719432336997 (2nd idea)
...so basically people could continue their affinity and encourage it after voting for things / sharing what they like most... seems it already does the work of attracting people...
... so again I think using polls is clever and even before this I thought it would be good to allow one's vote to be public (or time-expired / self-destruct / perishable) so atl people could connect right away and actually contact each other (maybe as a temporary group and then people could choose who they would like to message / follow etc)
I would like to hear if any privacy issues with this... right now I'm thinking after a successful poll why not? ( if it's with consent and technologically not wild. Not relying on user ignorance either to tick a box but yeah having the default off and then click even twice to say "I don't mind if someone contacts me who was also connected to the poll - this data will be available for 1 day etc" ).
IN SUMMARY - A way of people meeting similar up, through polls or through events (like weekly chats, or personal project polls).
What I suggested to Mastodon was titles:
POLLS WITH OPTIONAL VISIBILITY AFTER VOTING (OPT-IN / OPTIONAL CONTACT METHOD)
Good work even if I'm more of a people person and shoot-tin-can ideas... because making it work toward people actually talking to each other 'for real' is the main thing for me :D
Kudos.
Your text below just for reference:
" It's based on the simple, open source, privacy-respecting event organizing tool https://gath.io
The attached video is a work-in-progress preview and shows compatibility with Mastodon. My hope is to get it working with lots of software, including stuff like Friendica that supports events and calendars. "
