Governments against TickTock... (both sides USA / CHINA)
Reasons why
https://inv.riverside.rocks/watch?v=djk159kLBwA&t=22m02s
What specifically is TikTok doing?
- Copying every 1-3 keystokes to clipboard
- Android version allows accessing remote zip file and executing
- Access to video/photo/mic/camera
+CONTACTS
+MSGS YOU SEND
+APPS YOU USE
+SITES
+SEARCH HISTORY
+LOCATION DATA
-Chinese data laws means every company has to hand over data without warrant
+Government can take over ownership if they choose to
BUT IT'S PARENT COMPANY IS CHINESE NOT THE SUB-COMPANY
What is it doing with that data?
- 'possibly surveillance for Chinese government'
BUT Maybe this is more about the USA fears of china's rise since US companies do most of this also.

Basically whatever is free is not free
:) That's an adage I'll add though probably already exists in other words.
There is a cost to free
- who it's provided by / do they care in the right way
- what else is happening in the process of looking at eye-candy (technological flanking and undermining people)
- which country it was developed from (USA has overarching laws so best to stay away - I just respect that danger too much)
- deals happening between companies
I guess another adage is:
Treat everything given by others with suspicion! (both them personally or that they know not what they are using or doing them self or themselves as a company which naturally disguises actions even from their own employees)
