I stick to my guns that the issue against me comes down to:

- Mastodon culture wants to pioneer a new, purer culture that goes against the rest of the internet for the sake of creating a perfectly performative leftist culture free of any sign of AAVE, and this push was really only made last month with a single person on jubi.life demanding it and the rest following suit.

"Based" is used, quite literally, everywhere. It's normalized on Twitch, on Twitter, even on Tumblr no one gets upset about it. As I've said before, this standard is hypocritical as Mastodon culture still uses black language they just aren't aware of. "Canceled" for example should technically be held to the same standard. "To cancel" someone was not used until coined by the black musician Chic in the lyrics "Your love is canceled". I've pointed out before that a lot of my critics still use black usages, such as when starfall at plural.cafe used a replacement meme for the N word

- Mastodon wants to eject people from its culture and then still hold them to their standards. I am not on Mastodon. I do not wish to be held to Mastodon's standards and I am not seeking Mastodon's approval. On my side of fedi, just as on my side of Twitter or on my side of Tumblr, we can even reclaim words like tranny or faggot without evoking shocked gasps and shitfits, while Mastodon still argues over whether queer should be reclaimed after it has been for years.

- I don't hate Mastodon for wanting to pioneer a unique internet culture ahead of the rest of the internet. What they hold themselves to is their business. However, I do want to poke fun at that culture when it's used against me despite being normalized elsewhere and me not being in their circles.

- I don't think using AAVE is always bad. Some of us live in shared queer cultures with black people. Like myself. Language blurs in queer spaces and while I avoid words like "bussin" or "cap" or "bae" or a number of other usages of AAVE that haven't quite been fully appropriated into mainstream culture I do use things like based and fr and each individual is going to make that decision as to what is their own limit and that's okay. Yes, even Mastodon users that are upset with me.

- I stick to my guns for these reasons, I am intentionally instigative and pushing my own canceling (oops, AAVE) because I think the reasons for it are hypocritical and point to a rotten part of Mastodon culture that people should be aware of. I get that others don't want to be dragged into that, that's their business.

Which side you are on this fight depends whether you want a heavily language policing culture that is scrubbed cleaner than any other platform because a couple people demand it and hold instances to political blackmail of following their way or being defederated -- or whether you think people's assholes are clenched too tight and need to relax a bit. The internet is not that fucking serious, nor are these issues.

Show me one person who gets seriously triggered by the term other than performative moral outrage. You won't be able to because it's not "casual racism" it's just acting normal and people need to fucking chill.

Regardless, imma be out here doing me and yall can suck my butthole if you want to decide through callouts and fediblocks what normalized language I'm suddenly not allowed to use when I'm not allowed into your cliques to begin with. Eat shit 💚
