I think the main differences and ways I would see it (without claiming all knowledge) is that for humans stimergy is different
For humans
-needs much more awareness and sub-considerations almost on-the-fly decision making as things change and other humans are involved much more actively and aggressively:
-existing structures and mechanism are in place dictating things somewhat since people are BORN into that ever-evolving newer (worse) structure.
- ants have limited or much less social needs or modern considerations; therefore easier to see stigmergy at work or it's usefulness. But for humans harder and everything is already captured in terms of resources and we are also somewhat trapped inside our landmass or whichever nationality we subscribe to (have to subscribe / enlist to for survival).
- the levels of intelligence needed for ant to survive is lower or just more basic compared (scout, fetch food, procreate, build, repeat) ...whereas in humans many complex processes and then also internal conflict (which even ants have but it's more survival of the fittest or brave)
Long story short(er) simply following or suddenly doing things in mass or incrementing is also somewhat covered by experienced establishments / governments... so flash mob or sudden yes but the level of dedication is nowhere near the level of ant (to the death). If it was we would have died earlier at obstacles instead of allowing people in and then pushing us out more and more until they starve us or legally put hoops to jump through.
For mini-events like clean-ups and repair it can work (which is why audio conversations and circles are so powerful if in the mind people and parents are weak or governments just got so much more clever)...
OVERALL it's got to such high stakes where control and power is in other people's hands it has literally become high stakes/do or die (as money is this kind of ultimatum of join the club else start to starve / we don't care / we'll make you wait)
If it was simply a hill and conquering it and then moving on it might be easier as 1 unit of humanity but I think we already did that and now going back to more sub-land divisions simply don't know how to get along or use nature... (humans are not satisfied making that also another difference in ants that even if we had paradise somehow we'd have to avoid and educate social mistakes or jealousy etc)
Somewhat we are start from bad chess position and we have to play long game which requires brain-power or acceptance that all things are mostly taken over but in our head we can be strong and re-bind humanity and grow it from more healthy means (not money etc)... while still living from it and transitioning to something else which I think talking about it is the constant answer meanwhile...
