@derek Q. BOOK FOR COMMUNITY ORGANISING?
*Specifically* How to pursue climate action at a local level?
I encourage my followers to see this and reply.
I don't have a book to suggest right now (but it's a good question and I'm sure I might dig something later) but I can suggest talking more to people regularly at a VERY good way for everything and integrating that into people around you AND the like-minded stranger from time to time (welcome to try me) as a way of spiraling more people and interest while genuinely upping the levels across the board.
Talking more helps organically learn and practice in the audible sense of conversation (video not needed) on these topics many people are not able to do with others... and actually people cover a lot more in a short space of time and really *feel* it too... which is all important for all the 'members' (members of humanity, family, community etc).
*Almost* everything can be built and done this way (with books too along the way) and even should be because allowing and *making space* for people to talk IS possibly the #1 thing in all this modern day stuff and rebuilding / starting community almost from scratch.
I see why things breakdown and this is a huge part of everything if not #1 as 'talking about it' or 'communication' - so in the end happier methods or happier people can stick around longer (even in the bad situations) and not just run on positives or hype (usually at the beginning)
Rather than project after project going down from mainly 1 person or problem this method harmonizes people *first* to make for more experienced people and less narrow-minded.
Maybe I'm 'extreme' as a reflection of the modern 'hi and bye' methods (ignoring most of life actually) but this way of continuing to talk regularly is priceless... possibly #1 key to enabling people. People also hold books and knowledge in themselves so this allows sharing a lot more incrementally as people are a kind of interface-for-books themselves and without having to ask everyone to always read.
Happy to talk more about this isn't excluding other ways - justa strong main way at the same time everything else (reading books etc + Mastodon social + learning elsewhere at the same time).
I'm not anti-book :) 📚
At the same time I do value people a bit more than book (so still both very highly valued).
