My advice is put them in your walk path or hallway as way to constantly see and semi-force you to do something with them :) else they get stored hidden "Forever" !
Giving to local places of bigger workshops / hacker clubs *might* help them use it before you but must be a nightmare for them :)

Experienced this with clothes as a "freeshop" or charity style drop it all here... and ended up needing to use clothes containers going abroad or for sale that way... But now I realise one can do a lot with clothes like sewing them together for bigger covers or mosaic bedding!
