@wfryer Hi, ❓
few questions please:
☻ is this a grant funded thing?
☻ why AI (artificial intelligence) topic professionally and personally? (of course it's a topic like any other but why for you lead this, asked respectfully)
☻ why eventbrite? the advantages for you (it's again another why question, but honestly why not without and it's just seeing if others can help develop better things for you/us. indeed if that's possible)
☻ can we connect without zoom?
(would you consider other things? as that there is 100% better things for)
@freeschool I believe artificial intelligence is one of the most impactful innovations I have seen, or will see, in my lifetime, and it’s critical that we better understand the technologies as well as ways they can be used ethically and helpfully in our lives, professionally, and personally. This meetup is a chance to advance those goals.
@freeschool I have used Eventbrite extensively in the past for “iPad Media Camp” professional development eventss I have led in the summer for teachers, and I really like many of its features. It has excellent SEO, and is very affordable. https://www.speedofcreativity.org/2014/06/25/ipad-app-smashing-with-haiku-deck-explain-everything-and-youtube/
@freeschool This is only the second Edtech PlayDate event I have hosted online. Initially, I actually tried to host this locally in person, but some unexpected things happened, and I had to move to Zoom. I’m an advocate for both face-to-face, as well as online and hybrid learning, each modality has its unique affordances as well as drawbacks. So yes, I’m definitely open to multiple learning modality options for this kind of professional development.
@freeschool Who are you and where are you located geographically? What is your professional role in education?
@freeschool Lots of good questions, I’ll try to answer briefly. No, this is not grant funded, this is just something I’m doing on my own initiative as a middle school teacher. I’ve led and helped co-facilitate several of these “Edtech PlayDate” events in the past when we lived in Oklahoma.
