Kind of, but no. Because that still implicitly accepts the framing of personal data as property. It's a digital extension of the propertarian notion that civil liberties are grounded in each person's ownership of their own body and mind.
Rather than abolish slavery, this just makes us all self-owning slaves.

We have rights to determine how data about us is used.
It's akin to the arguments I (and many others) have made that "intellectual property" is not a useful framework for protecting indigenous knowledge. Treating culture as property, instead of something people have inalienable rights to, is the problem, not the solution.

It's on a long list of things I need to do, to recover work from a series of hosting failures over the years. CoActive.org being only the latest.
