Oh the realisation having played all these unfair games and I DON'T MEAN HARD, I MEAN PROPORTIONATELY CHEATING ACCORDING TO MY WINNING!!

Mario Kart I realise is my skill but powerups and other things proportionately not in my control... so love the game but leave it. I think overall I realised games are manipulation also!!

I remember many times I didn't do much wrong but came last or 'suddenly' taken out in a combo or even thought I saw a blatant dodge by computer players (hard to say without seeing code right?). Definitely something 🐟

Kind of sad - I think I realised a few times but couldn't name it... so I won simply by brute-forcing my time in order to win against by chances hoping the code would 'let me win' like a gambling machine... just to win an unfair game. Eh I guess it's a game but imagine unfair carnival games that kids pay for and adults!

TLDR;

CONSIDER IT ECOCIDE / AN ENERGY SUICIDE if you're anyway killing the planet by adding big files online for little engagement reward.

A kind of bourgeois "save-the-planet" data-killing is happening faster and faster for videos added and own-streaming online.

It's a bad gamble- whether your stuff is ok or not.

Better make sure to gamble the right way and have lower file size (you can still educate with medium-res and even audio versions of vid).

Unless you have really an epic blockbuster ( even a feature film takes less space to up/download then some of your videos) then you're being reckless and rapacious in your consumption.

RULE: "IF NEAR A GIGABYTE, THEN YOU KNOW IT AIN'T RIGHT."

I.E - IF IT'S ALL DESTINED TO BE DEAD DATA (unless really it's worth keeping / not forgetting / stuff is usable to remix elsewhere) THEN KILL / USE THE DATA IN SMALLER WAY;

Yes small is beautiful
Yes trade-free tools is a good way

But you honestly are civilised morons if you accept a GB for 1 low use / small duration video. It is simply too much 8n size... and then × how many vids you have at 1080p+ (which I consider too much or at least with the pyramid of all resolutions) then yes a lot of your stuff is actually overkill and measurably stupid ignorance represented in the Terrabytes and by demographics of your users (we are mobile users - check your dashboard).

Go ahead check some of your own videos and default quality settings (how many and is it on the highest res as default?)

I load up one of your videos and realise it's 1.3Gb to play it... or not much better at 720p...

With my flat mates previously they would complain... or I wondered why our network is so slow. !!BIG VIDEOS!!

And they had every right to complain if you're slowing down our shit ! - and I shouldn't have to check every video size from those claiming act to save the world or have humble small principles!

● Have you not learned from America's all-you-can-eat fast food joint model?...the false economy of cheap storage abroad..? and not wondered why/how it happens we can do such things for increasingly less worth and meaning? Consumption and habits...

(yes that's you eating there eating the storage space shoving your face in it).

Its just diminishing returns i hope you see with this increased glut of storage and cloud processor usage. Provided by America doesn't help with policies / data handling but I would also say this is glut from any country not just the biggest dominator on the planet to be wary of!

● Consider audio-rips of your videos
(especially those chatting-shit / casual talks). Make quick clips of best parts.

We don't need these mostly static faces on video. Add a thumbnail pic of participants or picture on the web page

● Set default playback to low quality - PeerTube etc
...MANY CAN PLAY HQ BUT IT'S WASTED on them with a mobile or laptop right?

Set default to medium or low res and let user see IF THEY EVEN NOTICE!
(User can up res... IF needed... so less packets / trafgic to start)

●Nobody cares or will remember you past a few weeks. Just how it is today.

Those that do remember or need will ask you or will love to use smaller sizes if they have similar ethos of low storage space... UNLESS ITS REALLY FUCKING SPECIAL <--- LET US TELL YOU THAT.
