Do you mean that because they 'forgave' them on these loans that this makes them non-users of debt-entrapment?

@mkl Hi, are there posts as to why it's closing from the people themselves a bit about why?

@marathon0 And how much of it is siphoned is what I'd like to know
(factories etc... not unlike villages that have water and then a data centre appears and suddenly EMERGENCY!)

The Overton window is an approach to identifying the ideas that define the spectrum of acceptability of governmental policies.

Overton window is an idea's political viability depending mainly on whether it falls within this range, rather than on politicians' individual preferences

I also like the other similar technique or names in the "See also" section of Wikipedia:

Creeping normality
Hallin's spheres
Opinion corridor
Moral relativism

According to Joseph Overton the window frames the range of policies that a politician can recommend without appearing too extreme to gain or keep public office given the climate of public opinion at that time.

That's clearer (if I assume backfill means another user from another server being able to load previous posts.)

To add to the struggle part... well
I think it's all about imagining something almost totally new while taking components from existing AND then applying a function of 'how not to have it compromised' (or just reduction of the bad man-made work)...

It's hard not to loop in everything else while considering it in and out of imagining the new... but I think basically starting from what we already have (even based in Capitalism or whatever) could be basically just incrementing love as we go... (a soppy finish but it feels like that if people feel like I do a bit more then it will win (or win:win) for all... it's not a a shot kill-shot but like a do-what-you-do but do the loving part most at same time or in free time...

"We believe that it is the inalienable right of the Indian people, as of any other people, to have freedom and to enjoy the fruits of their toil and have the necessities of life, so that they may have full opportunities for growth.

We believe also that if any government deprives a people of these rights and oppresses them the people have a further right to alter it or abolish it. The British government in India has not only deprived the Indian people of their freedom but has based itself on the exploitation of the masses, and has ruined India economically, politically, culturally, and spiritually. We believe, therefore, that India must sever the British connection and attain Purna Swaraji or complete sovereignty and self-rule"

- The Salt March led by Mahatma Gandhi.

The twenty-four day march lasted from 12 March 1930 to 6 April 1930 as a direct action campaign of tax resistance and nonviolent protest against the British salt monopoly.

YES SALT ONCE AS CURRENCY AND RULE!

@wjmaggos Riigh... got the link now about psychics backing up what they believe (if they really believe it) by betting...
And people also gambling... indeed.

I wouldn't say nobody can see your best stuff even with 0/followers ...

- People browse from other users / other followers
- They go from your website (if you have one)
- You can 'get' viewers / followers from mentioning it on a post in Mastodon
- and other ways

And even those following are following 10/100's of people so probably don't see your post UNLESS they press FOLLOW *AND NOTIFICATION BELL*

So there is a bit of balancing there, so you could decide if you add 10 best videos that might be better than adding 2 and waiting or thinking people will bookmark you / add to favourites / subscribe + notification etc.

If you put about 10 video (for example) instead of just 2 I think there is a difference and people might leave and not see the point or not see what you're about...

But yeah I get the whole as you go thing... but I think probably giving your best... is best...

SIDE POINTS ---------------
-----------------------------
Add videos mostly with yourself in mind because

- PeerTube doesn't have that many users ( some do browse )

- Mastodon doesn't have that many active users

- but in combination + your website + actively being in conversations and recommending relative links

THEN you can get moving with freedom or whatever it is you do and are aiming for :D

I would also recommend PeerTube only as giving a sample or indicator of your material if you are not producing your own stuff.

Obvious TV series of stuff or general crap you can just put on your server or download place / remote storage / kinda dropbox but better (forgot name) / FTP... because the names of file will be self-evident and the whole hassle of NAMING, ADDING DETAIL is a PeerTube waste of time...

Directory of downloads / listings / FTP filenames are good enough for most obvious material...

I think the whole streaming thing is a power drain and duplicates copies at different resolution... so unless it's truly your stuff your want to display and rare or something then just a sample of your stuff will do and not just uploading copies of commercial stuff found on youtube and elsewhere

If you're worried about YouTube then try filtering ads and tracking via yewtu.be and many other filters

The whole streaming thing is too much of a luxury and needs moderation and advice on it's usefulness and why else it gets very expensive (hosting and energy and time typing all the filenames!).

@wjmaggos
I was thinking it was quite a jump of a few topics from start to finish... Was there something you were looking or something what led you to mention a few of these things all together?

TL;DR is just the text version of saying many types of people avoid looking at the details in real life.

-some are conscious overlooking details or want to make an exchange 'towards progress'
and

- some are unconscious somewhere else (which is a phase we all go through)

A lot of times we / they are all ambivalent (uncertain or unable to decide about what course to follow or even to create their course as they go).

All good in this thread, just a note that this part (about pay rises or numbers) may over simplify it where greed is not even in the equation (i.e. profit pockets a lot of the money and is constantly unsatisified)

Something to do with mentality of exploitation is also there like "if we make it fair the big businesses will leave us" ! (not sure what to call that more than making it most tempting by making it more cheaper/exploiting that other countries) :)

@maxxcan It is done out of philosophy; specifically, the ideology that says all software should ideally be libre.

I merely go about it at a different angle than that of the FSF or GNU project; I used to be part of the FSF/GNU dogma, but not anymore. I drifted away from their way of thinking.

There is a lot of nuance to the BSD philosophy, that a lot of people in Planet GNU don't grasp. We're just as pro-freedom, in fact arguably more pro-freedom; copyleft is a curtailment of your freedoms.

Clock-making beginnings

inv.riverside.rocks/watch?v=ux

(just a few seconds and you get the idea - doesn't show cutting of gear teeth but you can imagine that or see other videos)

After cutting they had templates (made the hard way for sure) to save hours while still being able to make another one if needed again manually.

Also that time wasn't super-accurate or was left a little inaccurate I think allows humans so leeway (freedom to move within limits).

Having it too mechanical encroaches into the human relaxedness by running at speed of machines which is uncomfortable for humans.

In a world where nothing is straight it can entirely depend on the zoom you use in analysing things.

'straight' can also mean:

- planet physically operates at an angle or isn't 100% a straight line

- humans are not straight in the way they deal with each other, cheat or simply operate in their own individualistic line (they are unique not standard)

To people who keep telling me it's "GNU/Linux", and not "Linux".

The GNU project was crucial in developing the free software culture and I'm infinitely thankful for that. So was the #Linux kernel. But not every system running the Linux kernel uses GNU software. There's Linux distributions that don't have any GNU in them. Linux-based OSes can't run without the Linux kernel, but can without the #GNU core utils and software. So please stop being a troll repeating this mantra. Also #systemd FTW lol

@Unabart
In both senses right? (do let me know if none of these two included in what you mean)

- German autobahn can be Lamborghini-like fast from the energy-intensive smooth Asphalt roads and imported concrete, labour, other big machines. tax money... etc

- and in the 2nd sense from all the ' Lambourghini's ' just sitting there for literally days and maybe weeks in total per year (at least in in any city) which totally defeats the purpose of cars or algorithms etc...

If these were not close to some of the possible meanings do say!

It wasn't said in which way so I'm sure there are more ways to interpret it.
