Land on it's own is perfect...

but as soon as someone else is on it then someone else viewing can have some opinion about the land and person...

Human Phenomenon (not sure how else to describe)

A lot of things have no value in STEM.

And failing the above only focuses almost on itself meaning it's relativity and application is without other parts of life involved and so detrimental in making a tool without such questions as:

- "is it really needed?"
- "shouldn't we care with more people involved and ask them also?"
- should this be profited from or so heavily subsidised by those with a bad track record
- Are these values really representing people's views or wants?
- What is the real problem if we already had a solution or Mark 2 jet and now we need more and more faster and faster?

I believe this to be one of the reasons why STEM excels and is appreciated by the government as it's aligned with not caring about doing the people work or equalising planet or people in it (shrug not my government-controlled job).

Profit-orientated and funded (etc) all ties into more profit and skewed stuff... even if they are shiny.

STEM's weakness is there's always another hidden factor or cost that wasn't considered - and this makes a BIG difference to *anything* scaled-up. What STEM misses out is proportionately effecting results (if things / costs are being ignored or have no value)

This makes STEM look better on paper or to those machine-orientated more than the reality or overview. In reality STEM is cutting out a lot of people and cutting corners from of the equations which seems to assume a lot of perfection in saying "we only care about x and y".

@davidoclubb @anniemo71 If you have a spare USB drive you could try this ubuntu.com/tutorials/try-ubunt . Unfortunately I'm not local to you so can't teach you person, but I'm sure there's a bunch of us on here that can help out with at least the 'try before you install' bit. 😊
Partitioning isn't too awful, though it depends how comfortable/familiar you are with slightly more low-level computer fiddling!

In the attention economy, jokes don't go as viral or get the engagement that claims to have found "hidden truths" do. That's the game most of these alt media folks are playing. It's about entertainment, not journalism. They don't care about the public being better informed.

If you're demonised by your structure constantly then it's hard to do much good other than find a way to fix that (while trying to do good in a cheating / bad / system).

i wonder if it would be feasible to fork firefox at the point where they still used the old UI and extension but already have quantum engine parts. updating only the engine parts going on from there.

ff in that state really was peak browser for around half a year until the bullshit feature removals started.

Well, you can already manually backfill one post at a time if you copy-paste the URL of a post into the search box on your server.

For example, if you copy paste the URL of a PeerTube video in a search box on Mastodon, that video will become visible to that server (if it wasn't already).

There's no limit on manual backfilling as far as I know. It's only a question of what kind of automatic backfilling there could be, because most don't want to manually backfill posts one at a time.

Horoscopes may be wrong but they do seem to profile someone lol
(a certain type of person probably does fit it)... so... learn them all !!!
...or really lightly entertain yourself with the combinations of personality
(IF what is said seems plausible)...

The Overton window is an approach to identifying the ideas that define the spectrum of acceptability of governmental policies.

Overton window is an idea's political viability depending mainly on whether it falls within this range, rather than on politicians' individual preferences

I also like the other similar technique or names in the "See also" section of Wikipedia:

Creeping normality
Hallin's spheres
Opinion corridor
Moral relativism

According to Joseph Overton the window frames the range of policies that a politician can recommend without appearing too extreme to gain or keep public office given the climate of public opinion at that time.

"We believe that it is the inalienable right of the Indian people, as of any other people, to have freedom and to enjoy the fruits of their toil and have the necessities of life, so that they may have full opportunities for growth.

We believe also that if any government deprives a people of these rights and oppresses them the people have a further right to alter it or abolish it. The British government in India has not only deprived the Indian people of their freedom but has based itself on the exploitation of the masses, and has ruined India economically, politically, culturally, and spiritually. We believe, therefore, that India must sever the British connection and attain Purna Swaraji or complete sovereignty and self-rule"

- The Salt March led by Mahatma Gandhi.

The twenty-four day march lasted from 12 March 1930 to 6 April 1930 as a direct action campaign of tax resistance and nonviolent protest against the British salt monopoly.

YES SALT ONCE AS CURRENCY AND RULE!

Text from Declaration of sovereignty and self-rule, or "Purna Swaraj"

TL;DR is just the text version of saying many types of people avoid looking at the details in real life.

-some are conscious overlooking details or want to make an exchange 'towards progress'
and

- some are unconscious somewhere else (which is a phase we all go through)

A lot of times we / they are all ambivalent (uncertain or unable to decide about what course to follow or even to create their course as they go).

@maxxcan It is done out of philosophy; specifically, the ideology that says all software should ideally be libre.

I merely go about it at a different angle than that of the FSF or GNU project; I used to be part of the FSF/GNU dogma, but not anymore. I drifted away from their way of thinking.

There is a lot of nuance to the BSD philosophy, that a lot of people in Planet GNU don't grasp. We're just as pro-freedom, in fact arguably more pro-freedom; copyleft is a curtailment of your freedoms.

Clock-making beginnings

(just a few seconds and you get the idea - doesn't show cutting of gear teeth but you can imagine that or see other videos)

After cutting they had templates (made the hard way for sure) to save hours while still being able to make another one if needed again manually.

Also that time wasn't super-accurate or was left a little inaccurate I think allows humans so leeway (freedom to move within limits).

Having it too mechanical encroaches into the human relaxedness by running at speed of machines which is uncomfortable for humans.
