Can you imagine how powerful and even good it might feel to have so much power at your finger tips...

Like Icarus- are tech people trying to touch the clouds in the same way?.... to feel that warm glow?

Must be similar - having a mass of electrically-charged information-processing stuff at your finger-tips that can do almost anything - lights blinking like crazy... like an extension of your own being!

Obviously can be too much for one person to "fly too close to the sun", but perhaps many will try and industry knows it too.

In the right hands, it might just win it for us as a more responsible version of the status-quo... called Fediverse but ultimately something will cut somewhere...

So I wouldn't encourage anyone to try to touch the cloud or indeed think it can be all done remotely without A LOT of conscious humanity involved almost before or in between all that industrial BIGTech...

Unfortunately I'm not sure we're up to it. 4 things:

█1) I hate guys like Stalin but he was right in this: “a single death is a tragedy, a million deaths are a statistic” - same goes for other immoral acts, like torture, or any abuses for economic reasons (e.g. various forms of slavery).

█2) Also, I think the S-risks in "the wild" are usually greatly overstated. If the ecosystem is healthy and balanced the number of survival niches for all kinds of sentients is immense and there is plenty of pleasure. If the ecosystem is "tight" and survival niches become squeezed (e.g. due to human incursion) then the S-risks increase greatly.

█3) I would pay the $5 in "Pascal's mugging". I'd maybe ask a few more questions though - and if the mugger answered that he was investing it in Bitcoin, for the long term, to save those masses of suffering beings in the future - I'd give him $10. 😁

█4) We humans are great exploiters and deniers. We will teach AI that behavior; we already have. AI will either replace us or fix us (if it deems it worth its while.) - or maybe it will just "fix" us like we "fix" cats and dogs, and we'll just naturally die out from lack of procreation... So it goes... (as Vonnegut would say).

Nowhere is the study of consciousness...

(no wonder there is #war, or even in the less aggressive people perhaps they are also the same)

Consciousness is kind of important no? But it's not actually taught anywhere...

(pretty much true and measurable I think if it's not even mentioned even in physics etc or let's just say 99% never mentioned)

This would explain how things got to the stage we are in today but positively what we need and can put back in to everything...

AI might just be like any other machine or mechanism used by other mankind:

- to save need for human jobs
(and pay them less for more mundane jobs as a result of magnification of specialist or idiot / loser roles)

- to 'save' human decision-making (decrease human friction and get your way more often from top to bottom)

- Top-down-to-Tech-to-Public process as increasing leverage as human communication and skill and real community is reduced / replaced (although admittedly it wasn't perfect but a robot version not great either)

Like if git hub co-pilot can pull coding rendering you obsolete / useless (or good for that supermarket job).

The reason I stick to us and #Fediverse is because there was never really money in good things from bad / col people- they ONLY wanted to take advantage more from people like giving them debt is similar to giving job. We need a better way and even if that's cringe FreeSchool and your stuff / their stuff :) We have enough numbers to "stick it to the man" and that mentality often...

OGG / Opus Audio format (more open than MP3) - am using more often because it saves 50% data space I've tested!

So sinks in bullet against MP3 (proprietary) much more

More elsewhere supports OGG or needs to because they now face proprietary problems or want to save money!

All handle OGG / Opus - all but few editors and some Android apps don't so if you're Android-only I understand stick to MP3 for manipulation otherwise desktop OGG/Opus is 🆗 and can now only got to MP3 if you need!)

Also crowd gives you kudos for OGG-aware people and is the right choice in the end...

Talking about privacy and having it on advert-filled / pixel tracking site

Using or buying new products and Tech, only to forget the same happens with everything (shitification or withdrawing / rug-pulling / monopolising / power and control / holding you ransom etc)

Turning non-electric or simple things into electric and sapping more time, electricity, usage and setup of devices... etc just for basic tasks (industry encouraging "complification" which reminds me of "Californication" song lol)

Free stuff with sign-ups and registering needed (needs to be most open while able to kick out people IF really needed but isn't usually and just another gate or information scraping device to need people to signup... AND to 3rd party tools which means 4thparty/5th party/6th party data)

Playing war games, as if it's not war. (don't mind 10 mins but look at all this 'meat' heads playing endlessly and your kids too

Saying you don't like something but *never* backing up data to shift off that platform... unless FreeSchool is there in person standing over and then it gets done!!! (with consent but like pulling teeth since people are so invested and or lazy) :)

Using one thing to justify another - when 1 thing stands on it's own either as it's own value or entity without comparison or inferring it's competitive to anything else!

Encouraging people to use apps for simple things and not knowing what apps are able to do outside of what you think they do (HINT is the permission they ask at beginning and 'partners' they syndicate with... tells you all you need to know not to install)... ask me if you need better apps

Talking about things only as a victim (very allowable but as adult got to put up your own pants and run with something better and look spend time only blaming)

To educate or to ignore? (A teacher's problem... and real question to you)

I am seeing great teachers FLOCK to AI... like jump all in.

Of course my feelings could be magnifying the reality (but nobody can see or should be able to see this) so I'm wondering as teacher AND student...

And I somewhat know the answer but still ask...

IF you see a teacher using bad tools and they are great in many ways... but they already answered they are not going to stop using AI, Google and basically EVERYTHING... so then how to reach them...?

I'm aware I don't need to reach them and it can be even aggressive but what next... just watch them and take the best

(hard to separate this word aggressive but worth pointing out as a sub point to question the different styles in case you see me as aggressive to you):

█A-style aggressive (my style) = 'aggressive as in task / getting to bottom of things / learning / not letting you ignore / delay too much as tactic / trying to be soft but never coward etc '

█B-style aggressive (not my style) = personal and damage against people (not looking at points etc)

So my answer is naturally I have to 'stand down' a bit as this person I'm looking at (and did ask) is set in their ways for now or not willing to address radical reform of their ways (like some people don't see Tech as political and need years to see)...

But this is hard thing to swallow as teacher or student of learning when saying internally or externally "oh dear if you would only use XYZ you'd be perfect !)...

But at least this person is so good in many ways it helps... but can make it LESS easier as I get their pop-ups whereas someone totally bad I wouldn't follow.... !!

We need to grow but not so fast or furious and allowing for other healthy processes to happen (love) and not just one type of game (capitalism and it's type of yeast killing things.)
