The argument that we see no evidence for advanced extraterrestrial life is because complex life becomes unstable and destroys itself is starting to seem reasonable.

@garyackerman The key is naturally evolved life isn't stable enough to get both smart enough and cross enough time to encounter other naturally evolved life.
If there were a God, to plunk down a more stable finished product, then maybe.
As it is, humans are most focused on fighting other humans. We even cultivate ritualized warfare in our schools. (In the US it is called "football".)
