I just got diagnosed with epilepsy. I just do what the doctor says, and take journal articles as an authority (after checking the meaning of the article with someone who knows more than I do).
How do I check the authorities' understanding?

I operate the washing machine by believing manufacturers.
I set up computers by using authoritative instructions.
Research need teams and time. Better to listen to an authority on some subject than make a guess and test yourself.
