I absolutely hate trying to upload an image to a website for it to error out that the file is too large.

This post I wrote a while back has some very copy/pasteable code to resize an image using canvas before uploading.

The technique is also production ready. When I worked doing identity verification using licenses, we were able to use something like this and size the image down for faster uploads without compromising successful verifications.
