Having mostly lurked for a few days, it seemed like it's time to make a quick #introduction. In real life I'm a sysadmin by day, UK based and working in the criminal justice sector. I enjoy tinkering with tech in whatever spare time I have, and Fosstodon looked like a perfect match. Starting to find my way in the Fediverse and beyond open-source I'm also hoping to explore my other interests around photography, sourdough, running, hiking, swimming, contemplating why I have no spare time, etc! 🤣

I was wondering what made you change your website who looked quite colorful and creative?

First of all if you enjoy having a website that is cool.
You have a lot to say and your visual world is cool!
If you feel obligated to do your own site, well... some who are techies (not me!) have decided to leave the maintenance to others and are using a platform (https://write.as/) or some of its instances (https://writefreely.org/instances) to make it easier and focus on the writing rather than the setting up.
It has some limits but it does help to focus only on the content. And write.as has also snap.as for pictures. Now I don't know if that would suit you. You could also do a combo between the site you have and the blog in there.
Anyway, the most important is that you feel great doing what you do.
@globcoco Thanks 😁 I know the new one does need to be brightened up with more pictures. I'll probably keep them both in some form, but I'm unfortunately not good at keeping any personal site updated. I feel like I should have one... or I would feel guilty as a techie person without a website! 🤣
