For those wondering what the alternatives to command-and-control are, perhaps look beyond military analogies and turn to something like #sociocracy and consent-based decision making:

Some people believe that respect should be shown within a hierarchy.

However, if you do not believe in hierarchies, if you believe in servant leadership instead, then respect is earned through actions and words, rather than position on an org chart.

I learned english with irish people and they had an accent that was hard to understand at 1st.
Then in Australia, the accent is very different and of course there are variations inside the countries.
I didn't go to Scotland yet and i know the accent is quite strong.
I was formtunate to meet all kinds of different people (canadian, kiwis, americans, english, irish, scottish...) and I love the differences there are.
Btw, I love the welsh accent.

@hansw @Sphinx The British have some of the prettiest spoken English all around. (Some of their regional variations are not that friendly, and outright hard to understand in some cases).

I love their ways, not only the spoken word, but the creative and unexpected turns of phrase -- so refreshing compared to the less creative US speech and writing.

I just watched a YouTube video about a Briton teaching English online, she apologized for the Accent discrimination of her videos before.
I feel like Accent discrimination perhaps is a little too much. I believe there is different English pronunciation type. And there is a correct way to say each word.
I remember used to saw a quote was like this: never laugh at someone who cannot speak English very well. Because that means they can speak another language very fluently .

Eyyy, so to introduce myself.

I'm a minimalist and I like keeping simple things simple.

Been doing web dev for over ten years and I try to avoid dependencies whenever possible. Vanilla CSS with some JavaScript that's lean is better than any framework.

Code itself is technical debt. Less code is less debt.

Hobbies include laying on my couch thinking I should be more productive, writing long winded essays, staring at my always growing pile of books, and trying to find fellow humans online.

@hansw
I would be interested definitely.
I wouldn't know how to put that in place though but yes definitely!

For my first post today, I want to send a bouquet to Nolan, the developer of the Pinafore web app for Mastodon and Pleroma. Thanks for creating such a brilliant freedom-respecting UX!

@diegovicente @pinafore@mastodon.technology @nolan

I so agree!
Thanks @nolan for this beautiful app that makes chatting with great people easy and fun!

I love @pinafore. It has a simple and uncluttered UI, it is *absurdly* fast, and yet it retains all the main features of Mastodon. Also, the golden standard for webapps: it does not break the back button in the browser. What a beautiful piece of software you created here, @nolan, thank you!

As a total beginner and thanks to my partner who got me in nicely into Linux 10 years ago I am on Ubuntu (Budgie). I think it's great for beginners.
But as you grow and learn your way around, I don't know if it is the best - knowing that it's from Canonical...
I'm on a dual boot (with windows) but I'd like to have only Linux on my future computer.
