Tech layoffs are class warfare, pure and simple. They won't make the companies more profitable. The stock bump they get will be gone in a month. The aim is to create fear in workers. Class terrorism.

The bosses are even saying as much. nytimes.com/2023/01/19/opinion

"The layoffs are part of a new age of bossism, the notion that management has given up too much control and must wrest it back from employees."

The precarity is the point.

The bosses want you to roll over and give up. Will you?

@smolwaffle beating software developers with sticks will never get them to produce good code. It might get features out quickly for a while, but at the expense of quality and loyalty. Software development is a creative field, a developer who feels passionate about their work produces better results and stays at the company longer… their knowledge is valuable and you don’t want them to leave.

@gpowerf @smolwaffle Hmm, beating a software developer with a stick is an excellent way to make your company's sales go through without actually charging the customer and just let them take the item thinking they paid only to discover no money left their acct.
Bow down to the Software Developer or else your business dies, "boss"
